A centrist will take it way further than any of the wokes.

When combined with a VAT tax It inherently becomes a centrist policy, everyone gets the same amount literally everyone no questions asked no rules regulations and beurocracy.

I've said this many times but the left likes UBI because it gets rid of poverty and the right likes it because it gets rid of welfare and entitlement programs. It shrinks the government while it deals with wealth inequality.

Lol its cute how you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You sound like a 6th grader right now.

Polls for UBI at this point are pretty pointless. Anything that hasn't had its time in the spotlight and been the subject of "Its going to increase taxes! Wealth redistribution! Socialism! People are going to quit working and leech off the system! Businesses will close! Fewer jobs will exist!" attacks isn't going to be representative of its actual support.

Support is also going to depend on how you ask the question. Universal healthcare can have 70% support or 30% depending on what you say. Universal coverage, no premiums or out of pocket costs? Huge support. Higher taxes, longer wait times? Low support.

Yea but if you're thinking strategically, the time to pass something like UBI would be right now, during the pandemic, if the runoffs in Georgia turn blue. Which is why I think Yang literally moved to Georgia to campaign for those 2.

The time to pass it is now. Regardless of how this group and that group reacts. And I suspect Biden knows it.

Does Biden want his own legacy like Obama had with healthcare or some Bidencare alternative that everyone will call Obamacare anyway. Let's see if he has the balls

No.............you're not "thinking strategically"

In fact, you're not thinking at all.

DId you even read what Hot Sauce typed, because you proceeded to propose the very opposite of what will happen.

You're not gonna "sneak" UBI into law. That's not going to happen.

Every politician is going to have to talk about it. It will get shown in the news.

Remember that Trump was able to get huge shocking gains of people to come out and vote because he scared them of "socialism = that's communism, china is coming" over such ideas as Medicare for All.

UBI is going to get the same exact type of narrative. The most recent interviews with Yang on any major news outlet, he doesn't even bring it up.  Its like you're running with your fantasy narrative in your own head.

Its almost as if all of your ideas do not take into account, y'know, real life.

I didn't say anything about sneaking it in. I want them to force it in and destroy everyone in it's way

It won't be a partisan fight, it'll be elites vs general public

Those are some nice generic catchphrases that don't really explain anything.

This is one of the stupidest comments I've ever seen in my life. LMFAO "destroy anyone in their way!" It's like a fucking 8 year wrote that on a sugar rush. You're talking about fundamentally changing the world, in a way that shows that you have done absolutely no thinking on this. Like any idiot off of the street who barely pays attention to politics could see how ridiculous of a statement that is. You're retarded for real.

Once in a century pandemic is prime for fundamental rethinking of the economy. If Biden doesn't use this opportunity he's wasted his presidency

More of the Vini ...fucking everything. All you talk is buzz words, false equivalencies, childlike views of the world, and confirmation bias. If Biden isn't able to get a massive, permanent change on a social economic reform that would potentially effect every other country without the Senate, and a narrow house his Presidency will be a failure?

You say this like the days after a piece of shit murdered dozens of white elementary school kids in the suburbs with a gun and not a single Republican was like "Maybe we can try a couple gun laws?". The same Republicans who denied Obama his deserved SCOTUS pick, and worked tirelessly to cripple the ACA from day one and are STILL trying to kill it despite how popular and important it is.

This can't be done with an executive order as this pertains to spending, so Biden would have to sell it to the house and let us remember that Dems are not like Repubs where the entire party falls in line, because they can't afford to do so. The Dem voter base is quite honestly more likely to hold their politicians to the fire. It took Steve King nearly saying the N word on MLK day to lose his position. Even then it has to go to the Senate.

You know, the Senate that didn't want to send aid to democratic states hardest hit with COVID. Cities and states that pay MORE in tax revenue than many other Red States combined yet was made to look like welfare cases by the Republicans. Those Republicans are going to approve UBI because why? It's like you spent 1.5 seconds actually thinking this out.

This is all nonsense. You're talking like this is 2015. We're headed towards an epic economic crisis.

This virus will trigger another lockdown. Lockdown will trigger a recession if not a depression by next summer.

Another lockdown will guarantee the need for an emergency solution like that, Kamala Harris already proposed 2k a month UBI for everyone during the pandemic. Unless congress wants to fight about stimulus checks every month through zoom calls they're going to implement something similar.

I don't know what world you're living in but the one I'm currently in the house of cards is starting to crumble and fundamental change is inevitable. And once people have had something like UBI for a year it's not exactly going to be a tough sell to keep it going at half the rate.

lol Ok, kid. We're probably worse off now than in 2015. We now have a defacto conservative SCOTUS. Hundreds of more conservative circuit judges. Will probably have a conservative Senate, and quite honestly having a democratic Congress hasn't yielded any results over the past 2 years because everything lingers and dies in the Senate. You're conflating what I believe is best vs what I know will happen.

They still haven't been able to actually work out a second one-time stimulus, and here you're talking about permanently creating a stimulus. As for the world I'm living in, it's the real world. Half of the country feels apathy and a road to self destruction is manly and self sufficient. While so-called progressives like yourself and Cocke spend your time whining about stupid shit like SJWs and Woke culture ruining the country, you guys spend zero energy complaining about right wing politics.

We've spent months in here hearing people stumping about how ANTIFA is dragging down the country while MAGA and Qanon were actually making their way into our government. Something like the UBI could never happen in our lifetime because quite honestly the entire Republican party would rather sink the country than implement something like a UBI. The only Republican penned program that has benefitted the country on the whole in the past 40 years has been No Child Left behind and Obamacare and Republicans have worked to eliminate both.

While you're typing about the virus triggering another lockdown while an elected official who just happens to be Qanon is vowing to work hard to eliminate mask mandates. In some ways you can say we're worse off than 2015 because we've only increased the number of nutjobs who are actually gov officials.
