Since the game will be Current Gen/PC only, Rockstar wants to wait for when current gen consoles have sold a lot of units so they can maximize sales.
GTA 5 is still making money for them

Yea, it was very obvious that they aren't going to be releasing GTA6 until the market is there for them to have a huge base already there, but healthy enough that they can produce hardware for the game to sell fast enough as well.

 

That's good though.  Take your time, and make something truly extraordinary.  

 

And yea, the decision to do that is extremely easy when you have two games which have online components that are constantly raking in easy money.

If they are going to build out the Florida-like map over the course of DLC packs, then they should start the main single-player game back in 1980's, and sorta make that like a prologue. And show the rest of the Florida land as undeveloped land that you can't access.

 

And then which each DLC pack, they extend the single-player campaign story by skipping forward in time, and then showing a new part of the state available. Until you get to modern day, and now they have a big map. And the original Vice City looks updated for modern times.

I don't think it matters how big the install base is.. the game will sell millions every year for a decade. GtaV still tops the charts lol
