VGtech: Skyrim Special Edition PS5 vs Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S Frame Rate Comparison (Next-Gen Update)

Recommended Posts

PS5 renders at a native resolution of 3840x2160. Xbox Series X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being 2688x2160. Pixel counts at 2688x2160 seem to be rare and the resolution drops less often on Xbox Series X than on Xbox Series S. Xbox Series S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being 1792x1440. Pixel counts at 2560x1440 were only found to be sustained in less complex scenes such as dungeons.

Yea I'm gonna wait for DF, doesn't seem likely that Series X runs anything worse than PS5. It's at least 20% more powerful.

If it does it's gonna be patched

It doesn't run it worse and it doesn't need to be patched. The framerate on PlayStation 5 tanks far below the Series X, and the reason the resolution is dynamic on Xbox is due to the fact that you can heavily modify the game where as on PlayStation you cannot.

TLHBR! Even a first party studio like Bathesda needs to wait for the tools :sabu:

Fake news.

DynaFlop has gone from hating the establishment to making himself a Facebook style “fact checker” on behalf of Microsoft.

and by facts I mean bullshit

Did you even look at the frame rate graph? It has dropped as low as 36 FPS on the PlayStation 5, the lowest recorded frame rate on the Series X is 44.

I was referring to you saying "not needing to be patched" .

Both the PS5 and Series X perform the same.

The difference is the PS5 version has a locked resolution while the series X is dynamic resolution.

Seems like series X needed a dynamic res to keep up with the PS5 performance wise :umad:

something is fundamentally wrong with the Series X hardware much like the Xbox One X. The One X got bested by PS4 Pro routinely remember. may just be another case of a dev snubbing optimization on the low selling Xbox version (not worth the effort) as well.

I think the XOX was because devs didnt gaf. It was always going to be niche.

With XSX sure games sell way more on PS, but on the scale we’re seeing there’s clearly some design flaws in the hardware too.

Not that any of it matters because no self-respecting gamer would ever game on Xbox
