Battlefield leadership changes at DICE/EA - Vince Zampella now head of franchise

Recommended Posts

Ripple Effect (formally DICE LA) also confirmed to be developing the next Battlefield game. Interestingly enough when BF4 launched in a near unplayable state it was DICE LA who was credited with fixing many of its issues, so i think it’s safe to assume that the next BF will be a more polished game.

Would you say this is because the game is a great success, @Twinblade?

Well apparently most of these changes were already in motion before 2042 released, so I’m not sure it was directly responsible. But I think with time the game is going to be a success, yes.

LOL, so all of them Swedes have been stripped of their own Battlefield franchise :lawl::lawl::lawl:

And they have placed it under the guy who created Call of Duty........somebody who actually fucking knows what they're doing.

Easily the best thing to happen to the Battlefield franchise, ever.

Damn shame, though. I would've given Vince Zampella the Medal of Honor franchise for him to resurrect.

So how do you explain this? Even with the issues its still among EA's best selling games. In fact its the best selling BF since BF3

I think their mainline BF went out of control after 3. I mean Battlefield 4 shouldn't have been released 2 years after BF3 etc etc.

I mean BF3 had the most impact of all the games because it was yeeeaaars apart from BF2

2042 had a large gap from its previous game, compared to all of that other shit list of games you've posted.

desperate PC gamers who have no graphics-pushing game to play

and EA marketed the hell out of this game..........because..........they............have............nothing...........else

EA literally looks like a "major publisher" who only releases 2-3 games a year at this point. Just completely pathetic management.

but it really goes to show just how pathetic DICE is to get 4 million sales at launch and still be stripped of THEIR OWN IP...........because they're just that fucking terrible.

They aren't being stripped of anything. They're going to continue developing the series along with several other studios. EA wanting to expand the games beyond DICE is proof enough about how successful BF is (despite the bad launches).

LOL "expand the game"

oh, you mean they actually ADDING a real game in there, because DICE completely failed to do so.

that's like a roofer hiring somebody else to "expand" on his work by having the other guy build a fucking house under the roof that he's supposed to work on.

Don't worry, I'm sure EA will have DICE work to their own strengths, and have them work on DLC packs.

Too many haters in here. This is great news for the franchise. Zampella is obviously a guy that knows what he’s doing. They are bringing in him to steer the ship and also to overlook the franchise as they attempt to expand it. BF2042 is still a huge success sales wise despite the launch issues and EA sees the possibilities for the BF franchise going forward. It just needs better management to ensure they launch bug free and feature rich at launch. There is still a lot of desire for the franchise by fans going by the strong sales now all they need to do is get their shit together and stop launching very buggy games and they’ll be solid.

BF3 was pretty innovative and awesome.

It had a good player count (32 on consoles, 64 on PC), it had destructive environments, great maps and a good selection of classes.

BF4 came way too soon.

As a matter of fact, DICE should have done something else during this time and releasing BF4 in the same way it came out and people would have still liked them.

In my opinion, both BF1 and BF5 were terrible, especially the latter.

However, to admit defeat in such a way that they are out publicly saying that they are already working on the next BF game.

That screams absolute failure and it shows. BF2077 feels like a tech demo with no robust gameplay features.

They all just feel like BF3 tbh, the same formula. And now with 2042 reaching it's cod like adhd gameplay peak I just hope they go the exact opposite again.

Upping the player count might be the new thing but I don't see how they can't go back to more slower and tactical gameplay like BF2. But oh well with the cod guy it won't be happening of course.

But in the end it's just a simple mp fps like cod, nothing to take too serious, you just play a round to kill some time and that's it.

Im still enjoying BF2042 but this explains a lot. They had trouble with the Covid WFH situation and to make things worse they didn't start full production until August of last year, so they pretty much made the entire game in just a year and 3 months :| The comments about the next one being a hero shooter have me worried. Im fine with Specialists but if they try to turn the game into a full on apex/warzone/overwatch clone then thats going to suck....
