Team 2019 1,342
"Series S sales are seriously low considering the availability and price" "Sony moving PS5 from two models (that are already nearly identical) to a single model with an optional drive add-on is smart thinking for logistics. They’ll be able to churn these things out by the tens of millions whilst Microsoft have to decide how many X’s and how many S’s to produce and ship to different regions; the problem gets even worse if they’ve possibly then got variations of each in future such as a digital X. My understanding is that it’s already more expensive to make an X than a PS5 thanks to factors such as the larger die size."
Cell 307
Another day, another example of Xbox being run into the ground. Weren't we all supposed to be playing gamepass by now?

jehurey 2,613
So they could manufacture those PS5 as completely region-free, and therefore they could sell them in any market. NA/EU/JP And simply manufacture blu-ray drive add-ons (that may or may not be region-encoded) in those markets separately. So, if there's a surplus of PS5's in stock in one region, they can re-direct it to another region that needs stock; all without skipping a beat. That's just sound logistics.

It's obvious now Series X was an afterthought and they were betting everything on a $200 S.

FIREPOWER 421
So you're saying the Series consoles are about to get assraped even harder than they are right now in sales compared to the PS5? This is genius on Sony's part. Make one SKU and then add optional disc drives to streamline manufacturing. This is how they plan to hit their shipment targets. Meanwhile MS is fucked because of the Series S shit consoles that no one wants, and the harder to manufacture X consoles. They sabotaged themselves by going with two completely different SKUs and the S that was supposed to move units is gathering dust on shelves. Can Microsoft ever get anything right? Geezus! This is beyond embarrassing at this point. I won't be surprised if this is the last generation of consoles for MS. 20 years in the business and they keep failing hard with no end in sight.
