NPD/Circana US March 2023: PS5 #1 (now ahead of PS4 when aligned), RE4#1, MLB#3 and TLOU #5

Recommended Posts

So much for hating the TLOU remake. It's outselling Elden Ring and God Of War which were released at a similar time period this month. The remake was a great idea to go alongside the show, same thing for the Horizon remake.

Game is over a decade old the new generation gets a full next gen experience.

Wasn’t the original just running on Decima engine anyways? Can’t be that much work to upgrade for PS5.

They're obviously going to add all the gameplay elements like the float kite etc from the sequel. The remake isn't being made by Guerilla it's outsourced.

I'll get it on discount sold my Horizon PS4 copy. Plus it will probably release in time for the Pro for the extra graphical boost.

Edit - 30 percent of all PS5 users are new to PS5 and it will get bigger as the gen grows so all these remakes have a clear audience.

Jim Ryan apparently Sony was considering making a Series S.

""One thing that can be said is that if you look at the history of the game business, creating a special low priced, reduced spec console is something that has not had great results in the past. We've considered that option and seen other executives who have attempted this discover how problematic it is.""

He added: "Based on our research, it's clear that people who buy a game console want to continue using it for four, five, six or even seven years. They want to believe they have bought something that is future-proofed and not going to be outdated in two-to-three years.
"They want to have faith that if they end up buying a new TV that their current console will be able to support that new 4K TV they are considering on buying."

He was totally right and the gaming media and retards like Cuckstz and Lemij shat on him.

I still remember these retards taking victory laps when PS5 was going through major shortages in 2021 and 2022. They were thinking MS had pulled a genius move with the Potato Series S :mickeyj:

Sony should absolutely start levering their position to tell existing third-party publishers "You better not release your multiplat game on Xbox GamePass. If you release the game for Playstation as a full-priced release, then you must release it as a full-priced released across all versions. Or else."

If the sales get even more out of whack and PS5 is just absolutely crushing Xbox, third parties may really start thinking about the accounting regarding their multiplats.

The chances of somebody buying their digital version of the game for the lower-spec'd Xbox Series S are probably non-existant, AND it costs them money. And they're probably realizing that there are not that many Series X owners out there, and they aren't buying full-priced games, either.

Sony could throw out a notice out there to third-parties "if you just so happen to decide on just making your game for the PS5 and no other console, then we will help market your game as a major release for our console."

Apparently Series S sells in plays like Latin America and other poorer areas where people could never afford a PS5 or Series X. So them buying 70 dollar games is a pipedream, that's why the hardware sales don't result in an increase of game sales outside of gamepass. MS is getting sales from second rate consumers.

Re4 sold 7 times more on PS5 in the UK while the hardware split is only 40 percent XBox to 60 PS5. The Series S gets the super casual consumer that barely buys games, they don't even buy a GOTY candidate from a huge franchise.

They're getting the 99-150 dollar PS2 consumer that bought a PS2 for singstar and barely bought any games compared to the core audience. And its not even so much gamepass to blame for not buying games as the consumer doesn't buy 70 dollar games due to being so casual. It's not a matter of income it's a matter of how interested they are in gaming.

There is a clear spending difference between a Series S owner or a Series X or PS5 consumer that bought a 500 dollar console.
