The Soviet Union was a industrial powerhouse during WW2. Modern Russia is not. This is why they have to beg for junk from places like China, Iran, and North Korea. NATO has already said they're going to be able to match Russia's artillery ammunition production next year, as well as boosting production of pretty much every other munition out there. Its only a matter of time before the balance of power shifts. And unlike the Soviet Union Russia can't afford anywhere near as many losses as they sustained during WW2, once volunteer numbers drop and Putin is forced to do another wave of mobilization he is pretty much done for. And even with equipment and manpower shortages Ukraine still has the capacity to counterattack and regain lost positions if you check the recent map updates. The only wild card right now is Trump. Even if all NATO countries started outmatching Russia in the arms race that doesn't mean Ukraine is going to get all those shells. Cell 642 Posted July 13 Share Posted July 13 (edited) I've been thinking lately, if you took the nukes out and just had a straight fight between Russia and the US/NATO, good lord it would be a blood bath. Russian has proven that western tanks are not invincible for sure. Knocking out a challenger tank was a big deal considering no one has done so in 40 years, but on the other side Russian has lost THOUSANDS of tanks and AFV's from donations of fairly modern western kit handed over disorganised in a fashion. You have pieces of everything from Europe and NATO given to people with recent training on its use. Imagine if Russian found itself against a combined arms formation against just the US/UK. I have no doubt they would get absolutely slammed. Russian stalled the infamous spring offensive with images circulated of knocked out Bradley's and Leopards, but if NATO tried something like that it wouldn't just be tanks driving at the Russian lines. Imagine the artillery and intel kit that would back it all up, along with the air superiority. Decades of huge investment into the military industrial complex would show its ugly worth - Russian tanks can barely fight at night time FFS while western equivalents can take them out from miles away in almost all conditions.
