Was reading on this yesterday and I missed it too I think. You apparently have to speak with him in his specific location in each chapter leading up to 5 and exhaust all his dialogue options. If you progress a chapter without speaking to him fully then the makes the quest missable. It's not the only one like that I think. Old Man quest too.

Yeah it sucks. I've been using just a boss guide so it doesn't tell me anything about non boss related quests or item based quests which is a bummer. Felt like I've been doing everything I could but apparently not. At the end of Chapter 4 now.

-GD-X★ 8,366 Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM So I found the drink that gives my gourd a mana boost (no clue how I missed it lol). I coupled it with a 46% health wine. I beat the final boss like nothing. It’s official - cloudstep is the most OP spell. I didn’t use any pluck of fucks or transformations (though, the transformation I had, passively, made cloud step cost 30 mana instead of 40). I will try to get a few more things from level 6 and then take a stab at Erlang. My overall score is about an 8.5 (so far) pros: lots of bosses; fun combat (even if limited), cool transformations, lots of QoL, the quests I did were a blast. Some memorable fights. Many secrets. Nice diversity with its levels. cons: way too many easy bosses compared to the challenging ones; limited move sets; cloud step makes the game mostly easy mode; some bosses and npc quest lines can be permanently missed; performance issues on the ps5, even in performance mode. I loved it though, flaws and all. Definitely in my top 5 this year.

Half the shit you just said makes no sense to me but still, good review i might get this when its cheaper. just too many other priorities right now and im not in the mood for tough as nails games.

It can feel hard, at the beginning, if you go into it as a Souls game (which I did). Once I understood its rules, it got a whole lot easier. I’m looking back at 3 bosses I got stuck on in chapters 1 and 2, and I can’t believe how easy they are, in retrospect (I was just playing the game poorly). Overall, most bosses can be beaten in 5 attempts or less. Even towards the end, I rushed through it since it was pretty easy, but overlooked key items, needed for the harder, final bosses. Once I got what I needed, though, things just got easier. I still feel one boss was a bit cheap, but I’d probably feel differently now, had I gone into it with the same stats/items I had equipped for part 2. But yeah, it’s a blast. More fun than Shadow of the Erdtree imo.
