Console sales are dwindling because mobile gaming has exploded in the last few years, coupled with the boom of PC gaming tablets. The problem is that the big ingame devs are thinking more profits than the console gaming experience. That is why they are either buying devs to produce more games that get you the most profit with minimum developing efforts. Console gaming is NOT like that. It has never been like that. Which is why we are seeing colossal failures with the Gamepass business model, and Sony is there left in confusion. They tried to play the same game but failed miserably. Now they are depending on GAAS games, and trying to change the core developing philosophy of old gaming companies to try to mimic the same mentality. They are behind in every metric except revenue which revenue itself means absolutely nothing. A decade later doing the same or slightly worse means you're in financial decline. PlayStation is in retrograde and no amount of delusion nonsense or pejorative comparison to Xbox will change that. Just because Xbox is doing horrible doesn't mean PlayStation isn't in decline.
