Soon or not, it will happen

one possibility is the demand and revenue associated with cloud gpus goes to AI training and not gaming.

It will eventually. Sony ms and Nintendo will push it. One dedicated cloud > selling hardware. It will all be sub based and more expensive than it is now

Stupid comparison. Bhytre was a die hard sheep back in the day that, unless I'm mixing him with someone else, used to hilariously troll the hermits and going back 10+ years it would of been inconceivable to see him on the other side as he is today.

Sony releasing games on PC a year after there PS release to diversify revenue is not remotely similar but nice try.

The statement presents a viewpoint that suggests console gaming, specifically Sony's PlayStation division, is facing significant financial challenges and is only surviving due to its expansion into live services, PC gaming, and mobile gaming. Let's break down the accuracy of these claims:

1. Console Gaming in "Free Fall":

  • Inaccuracy: The term "free fall" suggests a rapid and uncontrolled decline, which isn't entirely accurate. While the traditional console market faces challenges, such as competition from mobile and cloud gaming and the high costs associated with developing cutting-edge hardware, the console market is not in a state of collapse. Sales of next-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 have been strong, and demand often exceeds supply due to production limitations.

2. Sony's Push into Live Service, PC, and Mobile:

  • Accuracy with Nuance: It's true that Sony is expanding into live services, PC, and mobile gaming. However, this isn't solely due to financial desperation but also part of a broader strategic shift in the gaming industry. The gaming landscape is changing, with live-service games and cross-platform play becoming increasingly important. Sony's moves reflect an effort to diversify revenue streams and reach new audiences, not just to "subsidize" its console division.

3. Subsidizing the Console Division:

  • Partial Accuracy: Developing and selling consoles can be costly, and historically, console manufacturers have often sold hardware at a loss, recouping costs through software sales and subscriptions. However, the statement exaggerates the situation by suggesting that the PlayStation division is financially untenable without external expansion. Sony's gaming division remains highly profitable, and the PlayStation brand is one of the strongest in the industry. The expansion into other areas is more about growth and adaptation rather than a response to an unsustainable business model.

4. Consoles and "Dying":

  • Inaccuracy: The idea that consoles are "dying" is not supported by current market data. Consoles are evolving, and the gaming industry is expanding beyond traditional hardware. However, consoles remain a significant part of the gaming ecosystem, and companies like Sony and Microsoft continue to invest heavily in their console platforms. The statement's assertion that consoles are dying is overly pessimistic and doesn't align with industry trends.

Conclusion:

The statement overstates the financial challenges facing Sony's PlayStation division and the console market in general. While there are real pressures and an industry-wide shift towards diversified gaming experiences (like live services and cross-platform play), the console market is far from dying. Sony's expansions into live service, PC, and mobile gaming are strategic moves to capitalize on growth opportunities, not desperate measures to keep a failing business model afloat.

Remember all those cloud replacing console arguements a few years ago (lol).

Yep, and it was lead by retards like Dynoretard and Cuckstz :cruise:

None of their moronic predictions have come through this gen or last gen. A decade of failed predictions and backing a failed brand. Pathetic fucks  :mj:

You’ve hopped every system and never truly landed on PlayStation. I understand why you bailed on Xflop and went PeasantC. It’s the only way you can retain Xflopism. :smug:

No it isn't.  It's equally inconceivable that going 10+ years back Sony would be releasing their biggest and best games on PC.... and also that their fastest selling game sold most on PC.
