Another game delayed indefinitely on Xbox consoles (Enotria: The Last Song)

Recommended Posts

Series S is definitely holding gaming back and Lemji still shills for it. It was a mistake and piece of shit that has made this gen worse.

Good. Now that that has been acknowledged we can move on that Series S is indeed a burden and the PC configurations are just basically a, “well, fuck with your ini files or whatever is necessary to compensate for your wasted money”. :drake:

Game development is a burden.. it part of their job.  Nobody never said optimizing for Series S wasn't going to be more difficult... The question was whether Series S was going to hold games back... and it's not... games are releasing whether Series S is optimized for or not :drake:

So basically is seems like the reason for issues with Xbox platforms.. is that MS isn't supporting these studios and responding to and providing them with timely feedback and certifications..

What the hell is going on at Xbox?  I heard this about another game earlier and just sort of hand waived it off as an isolated issue with a specific game.. but it's starting to feel like MS made cuts to Xbox's developer support channels and now games simply aren't being reviewed and certified fast enough for some developers so they're basically prioritizing the versions which they get full support for... ie PC and Playstation.  It's better for them to delay their games on Xbox, and use this time optimizing those two platforms and then deal with MS when they finally get around to them.

That kind of treatment is not going to draw developers to your platform... it's going to push them away.  It's about time Phil starts answering for this shit... because it's starting to feel like if developers don't go for GamePass deals they don't get the same level of support from Xbox.

Sounds like typical Microsoft. Despite consistently being one of the most wealthy corporations on the planet, they cheap out on everything because they have no pride in their products nor care for their consumers.

If even Microsoft doesn't care about xbox why should the fans? It shows how pathetic xbox fanboys are.

That wasn't EVER the concern... the concern was that it would hold back games developed for all platforms :drake:

And the ONLY reason it's holding back Xbox... is because of Xbox themselves... so who gives a shit :geese:

It's holding it back because of the parity Clause for Series S.

Without the parity Clause series S being a potato wouldn't be an issue.

Only Series X and only Xbox.  That wasn't ever the issue.  You guys complained that games would be scaled down on PS5/SeriesX/PC because of Series S, but that hasn't happened yet.  What we're seeing happen is devs just skip Xbox until they have time to optimize the Series S version or MS drops the requirement due to too many games not releasing on Xbox.

MS' own issue is also them not providing adequate support.  So fuck'em.

It wasn't an issue before because of the long cross gen period and games with a last gen version.

But now that we're getting a steady stream of next gen only games with no other versions. Devs have a choice to make... If you want to launch on all next gen consoles at the same time then you need series S version to be in parity feature wise with Series X.

What you're seeing now is devs are fed up of holding back their games to launch on Xbox and PS5 at the same time simply to get the series S version in parity with series X.... Only to have the Xbox version sell significantly less.

So now they're just launching on PS5 and PC... focusing on getting those versions out. While the Xbox version is delayed indefinitely etc.

Games require feature parity, not visual parity.  There's no reason why games can't be downgraded to hell visually and run on Series S.  None of this is affecting versions for other platforms... which is exactly what you guys were screaming would happen.  What's happening is that MS is not providing adequate and timely support for these developers and they are forced to not release specifically on Xbox because Microsoft isn't responding to them.  Can't release if you aren't certified.  This has nothing to do with games not being able to be ambitious because Series S.  GTA6 will come out and prove that..

Yes feature parity like I said. Some of the in game features are based on next gen capabilities of the consoles and utilizes these capabilities in game to achieve these features.

Problem is, series S is a potato and devs have to spend extra time to get to get series S to feature parity in order to release it on Xbox as mandated by MS.

This feature parity bullshit backfired on MS when BG3 was delayed for months because of series S parity Clause.

PS5 got a free timed exclusive for one of the biggest games of that year.

MS eventually dropped the Clause for bg3 months later but the damage was already done.

Ditch 2 is going to be weaker than Series S. Guess that will be the console holding things back. Sheep love to be thinking Ditch 2 will be getting all these next gen games.

There's no feature in BMW that Series S can't handle.. and certainly no feature in this game that this thread is about... The devs have already said there's no technical issue here. There's been no feature in any game that it can't handle.  The problem is memory.. and memory requirements can be reduced by reducing aspects of the visuals and resolution.  Unreal Engine 5 also uses a virtual texturing system... these games will all run, textures will simply take longer to load higher quality mips, or not load them at all.

There's exactly ONE game that actually had a memory intensive feature that COULD have worked, but they weren't willing to cut the visuals down that hard to make it happen.  But again, that's just the thing... it didn't stop BG3 from including that mode on platforms that could handle it.  It didn't hold BG3 back on any other platform than Xbox.. due to Xbox's own policies.

BDG3 was the first big backfire of the policy and it won't be the last.  It did not hold back the other versions because the devs decided they're no longer holding back PS5 and PC for Series S optimizations to have feature parity.

BDG3 blew up into a huge critical success and MS caved.  The fact that this was even an issue in the first place is the problem.   MS caving on the policy for one game doesn't mean it's not an issue.  The policy shouldn't be jn place in o begin with.
