Pet peeves in games

Are there any specific game mechanics or design choices in games that truly annoy you every time they are in a game?

 

Some of mine:

 

-Bosses that heal

-Bosses that have multiple phases but the next phase starts when the whole health bar is depleted

-Co-op centric games that have long Solo player only intros (making every first sesh with friends just everyone playing alone)

-Degrading weapons / inventory weight caps in games that are not Survival games

Not giving me the option to fully customize controls to my liking.

 

Permanently missable stuff.

 

Hard difficulties that rely on inflating enemy health/damage values.

 

Unskippable cutscenes.

 

Not having multiple save slots.

 

Bullshit RNG.

escort/bodyguard missions

 

slow ass walking people you have to follow and adjust the speed by toggling run/walk

 

everything with a fucking timer 

 

convoluted level design and backtracking (jedi fallen order)

 

jehurey

 

puzzles that are otherwordly like the one in SH3 with "hard riddle" difficulty: fucking nobody ever solved that 

the book sorting

I agree with everything said, so far.

 

I’ll add:

 

unavoidable puzzle hand-holding ala god of war. I got so annoyed with the NPCs blurting out the solutions, right at the start of the puzzles. 
 

long and/or hard walkbacks to difficult bosses. Elden Ring fixed this issue with save points just before each battle.   
 

Ubisoft-style maps, full of points of reference. Also filler fetch quests.

Dark Souls 2 has the worst example of this. "Nope, can't climb over this 2 ft. high pile of rocks. Go kill four demi-gods in order to proceed".
