Once Private Equity enters a gold rush in an industry the same thing always happens. Big mergers and acquisitions, then a rush, and inevitably the need for growth. The growth part is always the kiss of death to any industry with already tight margins.

That's not how it works. Just like with movies, eventually it becomes dirt cheap movies with good returns or high budget films with big box office and outside revenue stream potential. It's why the past 15 years has seen the rise of comic book and horror genres. 

 

Disney has whored out Marvel, Star Wars, and their pre-existing IPs and the Blum House movies can be made quickly and cheaply and have a built in fanbase now. The making of mid-budget movies are produced for or converted into TV shows for streaming. It's all just modular content now.
