Spoiler

I beat TLOU 2. The game had a lot of incredible moments, and I was truly blown away by the gameplay, level design, AI, about 90% of the visuals and most of the story. But the imperfections are definitely glaring, even jarring. Is it the “10” many sites gave it? God no lol. I almost stopped playing around the 12 hour mark because of a tonal shift that killed a lot of momentum. Fortunately, it redeemed itself in an incredible way. The last quarter of the game is absolutely mind-blowing! Regarding the story, I liked it. However, it could have been executed better, and the overall length of the campaign didn’t need to clock in at 25 hours. It would have been much more effective had it ran 15-17 hours. On a narrative level, I felt very satisfied, despite one lingering question I wanted answered. Overall, it’s a flawed masterpiece that’s an evolution in third person, action-adventure combat. It also has better survival horror moments than the RE titles. However, there wasn’t any groundbreaking storytelling. The VO work and animations were typical, top tier ND stuff. However, patchy pacing, and unnecessary bloat, disrupt the cohesiveness. My score: 9, mainly because the gameplay and level design, for this genre, felt like a true next generation leap.

My TLOU 2 review. No spoilers

how far did you get the first time?

I hardly remember, Id say 15-20 hours, but I do always spend a lot of time with minigames and side content, so thats probably more like 12 hours. lol

Same. I’m taking my time with it, exploring everything, since I rushed my first playthrough.

Yeah I finished it last night. it probably took me less than 2 hours overall, but I didn’t get all of the death scenes. Even so I don’t think it has more than 2.5 hours of content. Since it’s all FMV I expected it to be the length of a movie so that didn’t really surprise me. In general that’s all it really is: a low budget Japanese movie where you occasionally make a choice. It has its moments but It’s not really comparable to Danganronpa, I don’t think the director’s skills translate well to this type of experience tbh.

If I were to rate it I would give it a 7. It’s an interesting distraction but does leave you wanting more. The $16 price is also a bit hard to swallow.

I’ve been taking my time with this TLoU2 playthrough. Only half way done but I have been enjoying it a lot.

Also fully beat RDR2 on PC recently and have started playing some of the Red Dead Online. It’s...not great. Still, I love fucking around in that world and I have some downtime during the day while I work from home.

Played a round of Modern Warfare's battle royale mode. Its actually pretty dense from a mechanics standpoint, but the moment to moment gameplay is kind of boring. It feels way more empty than most other battle royales.
