-GD-X★ 6,727
i didn't want to have to kill sif. such a cute wolf with that blade lol. one thing i'm noticing with these bosses is that you can almost break the battles if you stay close (in Demon's Souls, there was definitely more flexibility). i find i get my ass handed to me if i attack from afar. i have also pumped a little less into intelligence and more into dex and strength. in Demon's, i was able to use the crescent falchion for melee, since it used magic scaling. here....i can't find a comparable sword (at least, not yet). so, i have been using dex/str ones. i know many say magic is easy mode, but it's pretty unreliable for certain enemies and bosses (maybe the later spells will change that?). anyhow, my play style is pretty similar to demon's, because i like variety. i tend to toggle between magic/melee, so, it's all good. -GD-X★ 6,727
God damn, Sen’s Fortress was exhilarating! I loved all of the traps. Iron Golem was pretty easy, again, going down with close range attacks. I’m now at Anor Londo. Oh…and I got the Soul Spear. Holy fuck is that a beastly spell. You only get 4 uses, though. I’ll try it out on a boss 1 1
Twinblade★ 3,288
Finished Atomic Heart. The story was nonsense overall and the ending made no sense. The world and gameplay in general fair better and keep the game mostly entertaining throughout, and are helped by the sharp visuals and surprisingly good soundtrack. But ultimately it does fall short of its potential. There’s actually not as many weapons or powers as you’d expect from a game that tries to mimic Bioshock so it does sometimes feel repetitive and is nowhere near as dynamic as that series. And as mad and myself already mentioned in the other thread, the design of the open world is pretty bad and leaves a lot to be desired. Exploring it isn’t enjoyable thanks to the annoying respawning enemies and it’s missing basic features like being able to place waypoints on the map which is a pretty ridiculous omission. You’d think that would be one of the first things they would implement in an open world game… So yeah I had a decent time with it despite the issues but there’s a lot of room for improvement. 7/10
-GD-X★ 6,727
This could have been the ending and I would be ok with that that boss fight was pretty intense.
-GD-X★ 6,727
I beat Seath the Scaleless and Four King’s. They were definitely harder, but their respective areas were a bitch lol. But a bitch I can respect lol. As much as I was throwing F bombs, I appreciate how each level forces me to adapt my play stye to it….or basically die. And the Crystal Cave…man…that was pretty cool. Much better than Duke’s archives. The Souls fatigue is starting to kick in, even with 1’s stellar world design, diverse challenges and feeling of accomplishment. I don’t see myself playing 3 (I heard 2 is terrible) for quite some time.

But you should definitely take a break before playing 2 or 3.

Most of the individual areas were well designed and had everything you'd expect from a Souls game. Its just how they were all interconnected that left something to be desired. Interestingly enough I was actually one of the most vocal critics of the game here when it was first released and most people actually disagreed with me.
Twinblade★ 3,288
Company of Heroes 3 is a weird game. The graphics and UI feel as dated if not more than they did in the alpha/beta builds I played and the whole game has a rough feel to it. Thankfully they at least seem to have fixed the performance issues and the gameplay is fun so far. The tactical pause seems like its going to be a great addition, especially for people like me who suck at micro managing everything that happens in a RTS game.
Sabo 290
Man, I forgot how meh the endings are in SMT 3. I guess that's kind of par for the course when it comes to SMT games (even Persona has meh endings) but SMT 3 has 6 different endings so you'd figure at least one of them would be good, right? I've seen 4 of the 6 and so far I'd say "Nope" to that question LOL...
-GD-X★ 6,727
While I know the Bed of Chaos is a mostly disliked/hated battle, I kind of dug the puzzle-aspect of it, even if it meant me dying like 6 times lol.

Man I had forgotten about this crap. That's the one with the floor collapsing, right? I remember cheesing it by running at the start and making one jump at the end. Then a few more from those sweeping attacks that cockblocked my center jump. I found the fight more rewarding than Nito (just beat that one). I believe I’m now ready to face the final boss. I would do the DLC, but fuck it lol. I’ll get around to it another time. I want to see how the base game rates (so far, this may be one of the few 10’s I’ve played).
-GD-X★ 6,727
Finished the campaign (didn’t do dlc) for Dark Souls. Gwyn was tough, since I suck at parries. Still, I was able to mostly use magic and dodge (lots of fucking dodging lol). It took like 12 tries. I kept getting close and bam..he’d fuck me up. Anyhow, incredible game! I see why some consider it the best (or one of the best). Even with its hiccups (looking at you wonky camera), the game is a 10 imo. This was a fun Demon Soul/Dark Soul marathon. I need a long (or at least a few weeks) break before I play the sequels lol. edit: my favorite fight was ornstein and smough. Neat concept. 1

Now you know why I rated it so high, with DeS in second place and Bloodborne in third. Artorias of the Abyss (DLC) is a cool boss fight. Just saying. Otherwise, I don't think missing out on the DLC is that bad. Unlike let's say, the Bloodborne DLC, which was awesome.

It’s funny how I decided to play these when I heard your praise for them, after I had mentioned a few friends were talking about DS3. Funny how things just work out
kaz 2,378
I hope this a lesson for all the souls elitist's, I know they are not among us but that "git gud" phrase is so awful. I remember when GD was completely against even trying the games, thinking they were hard. They just aren't. Souls franchise is a fake "hard" game. Maybe Sekiro is different but that's just it. There was definitely a spike in difficulty from Demon’s to Dark. But yeah, they weren’t as punishing as I thought they would be. Aside from a few cheap hits, the games were very fair. I died a lot, but because of my mistakes. I think getting to the bosses was harder than actually fighting them lol. But yeah, I’m proof that if I can beat those games, anyone can. Sekiro is too much sword play for me. One thing I love about the Souls games is that you can use many different styles of attack (melee, sorcery, pyromancy, etc).
