Despite it looking simplistic.. this is really stressing the limitations of the platform. The left side with GPU decompression maxes out the NVMe bandwidth of 7GB/s and only 15% CPU utilization, while the right side with CPU decompression has the CPU 100% utilized and only achieving a bandwidth of 2.4GB/s. GPU decompression using GDeflate is ~3x faster than decompression done on the CPU. 5.5GB in 0.8 seconds.. as opposed to 2.36 seconds using the CPU on the right. Damn.. what an improvement lol GPU destined assets remain compressed over the PCIe bus too, which means the throughput of the PCIe lanes is effectively doubled..
