The Good
The worldbuilding and lore are interesting to uncover and read through
The environmental undertones to the story add a fun wrinkle to the by-the-book military war shooter story
The color-coded shooter elements work well in the first half of the story when combat is more managable and enemies don't have massive health pools

The Bad
Repetitive enemy design and arena layout leave combat feeling stale, stretching out the game beyond its welcome
Control scheme makes it difficult to manage every option at your disposal during combat, especially on a controller, making many firefights feel overwhelming to overcome
The protagonist, Jak, isn't all that likable or interesting

Reviews are all over the place for this, IGN gave it a 8 and it currently has a 70 on MC.

I hate these magic games that ends up playing like a TPS with spells.  The lack of imagination is hilarious.

 

Just add a reticle and make the character shoot lightning.

LOL so true.

 

From Software's apparently working on a game with the codename Spellbound. Supposedly going to be heavily magic based so maybe we'll see something interesting.

 

Or it'll just be another Soulslike with an emphasis on magic...

 

it could go either way TBH. From Software is just as bad as Ubisoft at this point. Just recycle the formula, add some minor tweaks, and then call it a new game.
