There are currently no plans to make a “Nioh 3,” but Nioh series director Fumihiko Yasuda would like to return to the series at some point in the future, he told The Gamer in a newly published interview.

    Possibility of a Nioh 3

“In terms of a sequel right now, [Nioh series developer] Team Ninja would like to focus on working on new titles, so there really isn’t a plan for Nioh 3 at this point,” Yasuda said. “But after creating some new projects and gaining some new experience and skills from those new potential projects, I would like to go back to the series at some point, utilize all the experience and new skills that we gain from some new projects, and then potentially, go back into the series at that point, and create an even greater game to surpass Nioh and Nioh 2 and to create something even better.”

The Nioh series is currently only available on PlayStation 4 and PC, and will be available for PlayStation 5 with the Nioh Collection due out alongside the PC version of Nioh 2 on February 5. But the series is not available on Xbox, and there are no current plans to bring it to the platform, Yasuda told Video Games Chronicle.

“There are no current plans for the Nioh series to be on Xbox consoles at this point,” Yasuda said with a laugh, “but of course the Ninja Gaiden series has had a long history on Microsoft’s consoles. So if there was to be a new title in the Ninja Gaiden series in the future, we’d definitely like that to be on Xbox consoles.”

It should be noted that PlayStation manufacturer Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher of the Nioh series in North America and Europe, and was in charge of QA testing, worldwide localization and marketing, and other areas.

    Ninja Gaiden News Coming Soon

Speaking of the Ninja Gaiden series, Yasuda told The Gamer to look out for news regarding the series in the “near future.”

“Nothing to announce or note specifically this time, but if the Ninja Gaiden series hadn’t existed, then there wouldn’t have been a Nioh series,” Yasuda said. “So that’s a really important series to Team Ninja. While we don’t have anything specific to announce at this time, I would like to say just look forward to some potential news for some kind of announcement in the near future.”

The developer again teased Ninja Gaiden when asked about series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa.

“Yeah, so that character is the most important character from all of our franchises,” Yasuda said. “So, considering he’s so important, I would definitely like to have him make an appearance again in a game coming soon, and I would like to announce details about that in the future, as soon as possible.”

Back in September 2020, Hong Kong distributor Game Source Entertainment listed and removed a “Ninja Gaiden Trilogy” for PlayStation 4 and Switch. According to the description, it includes Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. Publisher Koei Tecmo has yet to comment on or confirm the accuracy of the listing.

    Next-Generation Consoles

Yasuda also touched upon the newest generation of consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Having already worked on PlayStation 5 with the upcoming release of Nioh Collection, Yasuda cited improvements with the SSD and faster load times as notable upgrades. “I would like to try and take on an open-world style game in the future,” he said. “So that’s definitely something that I think this new hardware will give us the ability to try out.”

Speaking to Video Game Chronicle, Yasuda added, “Team Ninja as a whole would specifically like to take on the open world genre. But we feel at this point that there haven’t really been open world games with a lot of intensity, which are really action-packed from beginning to end. So we’d like to actually take that on as a potential challenge in the future, and try to put a new spin on the open world genre in that regard.”

Nioh Collection, as well as Nioh Remastered – Complete Edition and Nioh 2 Remastered – Complete Edition, are due out for PlayStation 5 on February 5 worldwide. Owners of Nioh or Nioh 2 for PlayStation 4 will receive a free upgrade to the Remastered version.

looks like Nioh will be taking a good few years off.

Now it's time for NG to come back in the spotlight. I'm sure Nioh 2 flopped in sales catastrophically and was significantly down from the 1st

  3. When Nintendo and Sony are putting out this much quality content there really is no space for a 3rd place competitor. PC and Xbox just need to go awy and stop wasting everyone's time.

2 successful platforms is enough, there was never space for 3. Thankfully Xbox has failed out of the marketplace and PC simply exists as a poor person's alternative to console. If you can't afford games or don't really care enough about the hobby to buy physical games, or games at all for that matter, then i can see why you'd get a PC just to pirate games as a side-distraction on your office equipment machine.

PC in reality offers the least, even though it has more games than Xbox. I mean look at how excited hermits are to get pathetic scrap trash hand me downs from Xbox. These guys celebrate over stuff like State of decay 2 and gears of war 2 remastered. They've been starved for so long. :D

The problem is that when Xbox ultimately starts to dominate and COD once again uses MS Xbox as lead platform guys like you will want to come back.. Stay where you are you filthy sheep

Cod's dead, essentially a F2P game at this point

MS would need to lead in marketshare to get deals like that again. won't happen this gen. maybe in 10 years, next gen when we're 45 years old :D

    it's over

  5. looking at the japanese PSN store is depressing, it's littered with trash that has zero appeal to Japanese gamers. It seriously looks like the Xbox One store from ~2013, where they just straight up list english UbiShit titles and EA crap that doesn't even support Japanese language options most of the time.

Then when you add in the X/O button swap for PS5, taking 20 years of tradition and throwing it out the window in Asia, where 'O' is literally used as a hand gesture to mean confirm, and 'X' is a negative, it's clear that Sony is failing because they've decided to Westernize PlayStation away from the Japanese.

    they don't care.

Thankfully Nintendo Put the A/B buttons in the right place. imagine how many Japanese will be tearing their hair out on PS5. It just goes to show how Nintendo didn't compromise and gave the Japanese market a product they actually wanted. that extends to features and software frankly.

went back and promptly picked up the past 3 vanillaware games (Odin Sphere, Dragon's Crown, and Muramasa). on Vita before they become impossible to find new. they were expensive but whatever

Makes me sad that this game wa sonce in development for VITA but got cancelled. I would have loved to have this style of game on a handheld. 40 hours of text heavy gaming tethered to a console really sucks, wish i could take this wherever i go.

i'm 75 hours into Persona 5 and now I want to rush to finish it so i can devote all my time to this. 13 sentinels is apparently 40+hours. thank god i found both of these games during lockdown or i'd never have time to play them through. :glad:

  7. i won't be getting into Microsoft's ecosystem ever again.

I have 0 interest in anything they produce. Only the ill-gotten Bethesda/tango gameworks, but then again those studios will continue to produce for PlayStation 5, so I won't have to.

I'll never give them one dime until they restructure the Xbox brand away from the SJW lifestyle brand they've turned it into. Xbox is the enemy of everything I stand for on a moral level, then there's the shady business practices, the complete lack of exclusives, and the shitty first party output in general.

Phil would also need to be removed, not one cent of mine will go to paying that clown's salary.

    Fuck Xbox.

  8. GREAT NEWS! :glad: It looks like RetardEra has unearthed devastating proof that Gamepass for PC is a dangerous app that PERMANENTLY damages hard drives and your PC!

    https://www.resetera.com/threads/gamepass-pc-is-a-ticking-time-bomb-that-results-in-permanently-lost-hdd-ssd-space-unless-you-nuke-windows.340696/

no matter what you do, you can't undo Gamepass's damage.

this trojan horse streaming service full of mediocre 5.0 western scrap, commodified and spoon fed to desperate PC gamers, needs to be stopped.

Play your X360 Pity ports with caution, PC lowlives. Your PC is dying everytime you install/boot up/use Gamepass. Is Halo 2 remastered really worth your PC?

    :mock:

    UNINSTALL ASAP!

  9. only games worth more than $10 on the secondhand market now are the japanese only Yakuza Ishin! For PS4, and Judgement for PS4 - the only games that haven't been ported and dumped onto Gamepass like a $2 whore.

thanks MicroDick, and PC gaming. .ISO files on Piratebay right now for PC as well.

Xbox should have to reimburse all physical copy buyers on PS4. To Hell with gamepass, to HELL with it. What a nightmare for collector's and physical buyers who want to OWN their software.

No wonder hardcore gamers all hate Xbox and PC
