My new BeastC has went together well. Rolling with a i7 920 at 4Ghz with 6GB of ram. Waiting on my HD5850 get back from RMA then i'll be ready to melt faces.

So i've downloaded Crysis and Warhead off of Steam and i'm in the process of getting GTAIV to give this bitch a test.

Well i kept my old case and PSU, the HD5850 i purchased earlier in the year, so for a new Mobo, RAM and CPU +HSF it came to around £550.

I'm winding down from my Football Manager binge (60 hours in less than 2 weeks) so i've just DLed Crackdown 2 because i rather liked the first one and will try and open world game and Singularity based solely on the GiantBomb quicklook. Also ordered a new BeastC, my old C2D system has served me well over the last 3 years, but it's timed to move to i7.

I pinched this from the Obsidian forum, and it completely fixed the wild camera swings and stuttering:

Open "APEngine.ini" located at "X:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\Alpha Protocol\APGame\Config" and change the following:

UseBackgroundLevelStreaming=false

OnlyStreamInTextures=true

OneFrameThreadLag=False

That's the problems i was getting, i'll try that, because the stuttering and retarded camera swings were too annoying.

Dark did you play AP with a mouse? I'm getting some crazy shit trying to play with one.

As a barometer of how much RDR has got me, i've actually got up earlier than usual on a Saturday, gotten some food and snacks and stuff and plan to play it all day. I haven't done this in years.

There's so much shit to do, I'm already putting time into the side stuff because it's so interesting. Helping strangers, doing bounties, doing sharpshooter stuff and i know there is more to come. And god the animation is amazing, and the vistas are stunning.

So i'm about 2 hours into RDR and i'm scared, because i'm really loving it and it seems to be completely enormous. My life is going to take a hit over the next week or so.

Me too, i've just got a book on writing from the guy who brought back Doctor Who. Shit is just shy of 700 pages.

I'm in a bit of slump atm. There are games to be played (Metro 2033, finish off JC2, more BFBC2) but i'm just not in the mood. I think Splinter Cell Conviction will end up being the next game i play.

Get FCOM for Oblivion. Shit is tricky to get configured, but makes Oblivion a godly game.
