Ever since I got my 280X I went back to Far Cry 3. Nice to play that game at a solid 1080p 60fps. I think I'm enjoying it more the second time through than the first Figures I'd come in here only to see JonB and Twinfail hating on one of the Best Games out there. As an open world game there are SOOOO many things I like about it. - I like how dangerous it is. - The hunting and crafting are great. - Liberating outposts is varied and enjoyable. And just as soon as you think you're dominating all you come across outposts that are significantly more challenging. Even when you die it -

Been Playing Kerbal Space Program for a couple months now. Also Civ 5 A Brave New World Beam NG ( fun to toy around with ) and now Rayman Legends -
I don't think MS has ever gone with anything truly unique ( like the cell ), They just buy and modify existing chipsets. They went from a 733mhz celeron and a GPU ( NV2A ) based on the same chipset as the GeFores 3's ( NV20 ). Then the 360 had an IBM PowerPC and a GPU based on ATI's r500(?) or r520(?) chipset. They'll all be going with that approach next gen and it's all gonna come down to how much they're willing to spend, when they want to launch, and any contractual obligations if they apply. I can't help but wonder if both Sony and Microsoft wanted to use the same chipset

I don't see MS going batshit crazy. It would be insane of them, to have their competitors make day one profit off of hardware and they be the only ones losing money off of every console sold. If they are the only one of the three who is either willing or able to pump out a monster console then doing so would provide other benefits. It's too early to know for sure what will happen. I REALLY like speculating about rumors. Even more than that I like piecing together the puzzle based on existing chipsets and trying to figure out which reports are credible and which aren't . Now you're no longer arguing that th 720 will have 16 cores. 720 could easily get a 4 core cpu based on the A2 architecture which is exactly what the article talks about when it states the 18 core design was too costly. Ultimately you can forget about consoles getting a cpu designed for super computing servers. The closest we came to that was the cell qnd you see how that turned out. MS should focus on beastly GPU and RAM. I no longer believe cpu is as important as the other two components. I even except sony reusing the same exact cell chip to save cost if that would help th

The CPU is using the A2 architecture and it has 18 cores. If there was any CPU we can go by to assume what 720 might use based on this rumor than this is the CPU. And yes this article from 2011 has Intel (you know the people who actually are making these CPU) stating it's expensive even in a high margin market. Intel has spoken and the more I read up on this the more unlikely 720 will have 16 cores. 720 has a better chance of having 12GB of RAM than a 16 core CPU. What you consider to be likely or unlikely is completely irrelevant. What you consider to be too ex

No, that's NOT what the IGN rumor says. The rumor says that the PS4 will have an AMD 7670 series ( which is just a rebranded 6670, nothing amazing ). The IGN rumor also says it will have AMD's A8-3850 APU, which consists of two elements. 1. A quad core 2.9GHz CPU ( which echoes the pastebin article and all other articles about sony ditching the cell) 2. An integrated 6550D - This is a LOW LOW end graphics card So even a 6550D and a 6670 working together is still very much "weak sauce"

If you're going only by an old IGN rumor then no the 720 GPU isn't looking too powerful. Fortunately that old IGN rumor about 720 was never very credible and there are plenty of other sources which have something very different to say. http://ht.ly/a1eSh The recent claim of the 720 having TWO 7000 series GPUs is completely different from the no doubt wrong claim from IGN about having only one 6670. And there is more. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/digitalfoundry-unreal-engine-evolution A 6670 running Samiratan - Impossible. Two high e

I suppose you might think that if you didn't know how to read. The IGN rumor said it would be based on AMD's 6000 series. This rumors states it will be based on AMD's 7000 series. The card mentioned by IGN is identical to the 7000 series GPU mentioned for PS3. And the fact that rumours for both systems are circulating that they are using dual GPU solutions makes it seem pretty evident that ATI is likely proposing the same or very similar GPUs for both next gen systems. No you need to learn to read. Not all AMD 6000 and AMD 7000 are the same. Not even close.

While they both share the same A2 architecture you're talking about a completely different CPU, even with a different number of cores. And then you're using an article from 2011 to try and convince yourself it would be too expensive years later in 2013 LOL Too expensive? No. Expensive? Maybe. The 720 is going to be a BEAST afterall
