If the 3600G is real (8C/16T w/ Navi 10/20CUs) it is a good indication what PS5 may be. I imagine it'll be similar, but with more CUs. Other than that the rest of this stuff is for PC. The guy speculating on the rumors basically looks into the claims and makes his best guess based on known/rumored information. He's been correct or close to correct several times. The biggest use case is for a variety of applications like virtualization, video encoding/decoding, games, streaming, etc. It's starting to blur the lines between what we consider now an HEDT and regular PC, but with the only different being available lanes unless that suddenly changes. It's exciting times in the CPU bidness because AMD is right on Intel's tail and they haven't been able to respond other than binning high-end desktop CPUs, adding additional cores to an already hot CPU and having better silicon in general. The 7nm process that AMD is going with for their next version of Ryzen is supposed to be equivalent or close to equivalent in silicon quality. Either way it's looking like Intel is in some trouble since Ryzen is catching on and Epyc is beginning to see its first real entrance into DCs with AWS. Ryzen is catching up and fast while Intel still can't get their 10nm process straightened out. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
