You literally get like 30 percent of the story on first play through. You aren't getting the real experience with one playthrough.

Just bought Nier Automata.

Have about 12 days to decide if I get Replicant, if I enjoy the first one.

Automata has the better gameplay. Replicant has the better story and characters. Depending on which you value more, gameplay or story, you may want to consider the order you play them in.

Probably will buy Replicant later and have it installed once I finish Automata.
