EA is starting to dump all of their games on Steam

not at all. Thats like saying Uplay is also just a DRM layer even though its a big part of Ubisoft's business model

 

Also, these are all their older and casual games. Its lacking their bigger games like Battlefield, Battlefront, recent Mass Effects, etc.

If you buy an EA game on Steam (countless more copies will be sold via Steam than Origin), it's just acting as a layer of DRM just like Uplay does for Ubisoft's games. In terms of their other games they just started putting them on there. From the looks of it they're staging release windows as to not flood the market with all of their games at once which would reduce sales volumes.
