The fact that they mention that Bethesda Studios will get their own publishing arm is quite telling.

 

Because Bethesda Studios doesn't currently have a publishing division RIGHT NOW. That's Zenimax, and always has been for a long time.

 

So that means Bethesda Studios is going to have some part of Zenimax Publishing still remain in operation, and they'll just change the name to "Bethesda Studios Publishing", or Bethesda Studios is going to open up their own publishing office.

 

But that's weird for a deal in which somebody just paid $7.5 Billion dollars for everything.

 

My guess is that the top guys at Bethesda Studios were going to walk away with their big paychecks and Microsoft wanted them to stay, and the only way they would stay would be if they got to maintain independence from Xbox Studios.

Bethesda isn’t publishing their own games... Bethesda will not exist... it will be Microsoft publishing Microsoft games, possibly under the Bethesda branding... but the company will not exist once they’re purchased technically
