MalaXmaS 651
I am in the song "The House that Pain Built". Literally every song I've heard up to this one, I've liked a lot. Edited December 4, 2021 by MalaXmaS

jehurey 3,299
Wait a minute, is the lead singer of this band inadvertently responsible for creating Icelandic death metal and paving the way for Bjork? All because he was a doomsday believer?

Tell me what do you think about the whole album. I think it's one of the best ones I've ever heard. The House of Pain is so fucking amazing.
Mr. House 3,371
This is terrible. Is this supposed to be metal? Sounds like a wannabe Ministry band, the singer is fucking gay. 1

The House of Pain is so fucking amazing. I'm actually starting with their 1980 debut album. Since I also listen to early U2 and the Clash, its rather easy for me to appreciate the much simpler, punkish sound that they have. Out of the nine songs, five are quite listenable. Requiem, Bloodsport, The Wait, Primitive, Change. The lead single from that album, Wardance, sucks quite a bit, I have no idea how that's a single. I'd say that Bloodsport and Primitive are solid songs, and The Wait and Change are actually legitimately good, catchy rock songs.

If you ever want recommendations, hit me up. I still love this genre.
jehurey 3,299
I don't know much about Ministry, but I played through Watch Dogs DLC expansion featuring a side character, T-Bone, and the final mission involved protecting your own compound, which is a junkyard, with a whole bunch of traps and explosions. And when the action started, they played that famous Ministry song, Jesus Built my Hotrod. That was a cool moment. Also, I listened to an episode of Bill Burr's podcast, and he had the guy on, Al Jourgansen. And he sounded like a normal laid back schlub, he was hilarious.

Not sure if you dislike the whole song in general or if its just the distorted vocals but if its the latter, there is a Peel Session version of the song without the distorted vocals which sounds better IMO.
