Yeah, the specs are pretty insane. A 2-7 hour battery life sounds solid.

i guess it depends on the type of games you would want to play.

 

ports of games that were designed for using a game controller? yeah a handheld would probably cover it. And the Ally definitely seems like its worth the extra money.

 

if you were planning on using a mobile computer for any reason, then you might as well pay a little extra to make it a gaming laptop.

That depends on what you want. Something that feels like a handheld gaming console, or something that feels like a computer.

 

With steamdeck if you wanted to use it as a computer also you would ideally want a monitor and keyboard/mouse.

 

Are you intending to play this at a desk? Or chilling on a couch?

Based on what you're saying id get the Deck. Laptop will handle recent AAA games better but if you more want indies and older AAA the Deck is great at that. Yes windows is that bad.
