Unreal Engine 5.5 is going to be huge.. Nanite for Skeletal meshes is coming!

This is a huge deal.  They're slowly getting all of this functionality online and making it all much more performant.  5.5 will probably be out towards the end of the year.  Now realistically, this is what the engine should have been able to do they launched it... but it's clear the way they're developing and designing the engine has changed to facilitate more organic updates.

Wouldn't surprise me if The Coalition has access and is working hand in hand with Epic on building Unreal Engine 5.x and that their game will make use of all the added functionality.  UE5.4 also has huge performance improvements coming to multithreading the renderer on the CPU.  So games showing its true potential should be unveiling soon. (like Marvel 1943)

Will this allow consoles to run more than 1440p 30 fps for the latest games lol?

UE5.4 has some big performance improvements coming under the hood which should help it hit 60fps targets.

Who knows what else 5.5 will have.

Despite the issues UE is still a crazy efficient and intuitive engine to use. For indie devs making 3D games there really is no comparable solution anymore. Unity had its time in the sun but unless an established developer already has a history with it, there's little reason to use it over UE5 nowadays.
