Consolidation and retraction time after the explosion of growth from the pandemic where gaming businesses somehow expected that level of engagement forever. 

 

Also, everything is down, most economies in recession or artificially prevented ones. Most people simply have less disposable income.

Anyone with half a brain went PC or is a Nintendo only gamer. 
 

Nintendo is the only one who offers unique product on a console front. PS and Xbox are PC lite and have been for 20+ years. Most people are catching on. Hell, the lack of paid online means the cost will be paid off over time alone.

I still believe consoles should move to cell phone model. New console yearly, 3-5 years of support for each console with vague promises so you’re not held to it, emphasis on trade in programs, etc 

 

I mean it can definitely be done, but can it be done on “small” scale? Apple shipped 230+ million iPhones in 2023. Xbox… even PS, would be lucky to do 20? Not sure if that’s even sustainable.

Economy is so far from fine it's not even funny. I'm not even talking personally because thankfully I'm a lot more fortunate than most but to say it's a pure work ethic thing is bs. 

 

Many many people working at max capacity but rise of costs far exceed what they can keep up with. It's not subjective that overall the far majority of ppl have had their disposable income heavily reduced in recent years. That impacts practically everything that is non necessity. Go look at how many small business are closing down, look at nearly every entertainment sector, at the resturant sector, at tech sector, etc. It's all down. It has nothing to do with product or quality or anything.

People our age are prob doing ok. Our kids are older , our houses paid off , our careers we have been there long.

 

I feel bad for the youth though,  damn. All the younger people I know are on the struggle bus and don't know what to do.

if you’re good with a computer you have no excuse.  Anyone born after 1980 can self learn a computer 

 

the price of goods have gone up but if you’re a cheap fuck there’s always ways around it. Every company has a rewards program these days

You don't really seem to get it though, all the things you are mentioning still involve spending money. I'm saying most people quite literally don't have disposable income. Electricity up literally 100%+ in many countries. Mortgages/Interest rates up tremendously worldwide (so Rent also up tremendously). Basic groceries/food items up like 30-50%, etc. All these things mean less spending on non necessities.

It’s not hard to make a decent living. Tho I speak based on my upbringing, I’ll always find a way. Drop me in South Africa and I’ll sell maize. 
 

I get different people are brought up with different skill sets. Today digital awareness is everything. Actually, it’s really all you need.
