The gamepass early access is shady. You’re basically paying half of the game’s MSRP, but it’s still tied to gamepass so if you unsubscribe at some point you lose access to the game….
Imagine spending a dollar on the Windows store couldn't be me

Gotta remember to cancel my 3 month trial, fuck that shit

Playstation already has all the top 5 most next-gen games you can play in Ragnarok, Forbidden West, Rift Apart, Demons Souls, and and FF16. They have one of the few next gen exclusive new IPs with Returnal, and they're about to have the blockbuster of the gen with Spiderman 2. PlayStation first party is not out here struggling.
It's a bummer Last of Us MP wasn't 2023, and thats about all you can say. All the AAA single player games from top teams are still coming, plus like 6 online games from newly acquired teams. Marathon is looking sick for example.

It would be ridiculous to bet against Sony first party.

Nintendo doesn't though
On a recent trip to the US, Miyamoto saw Horizon Forbidden West on a 4k TV and reportedly started barking at the screen because he thought it was real.

Wonder if this is a one off for Microsoft allowing non-parity or if they're throwing Series S to the wolves.
Im guessing specifically split-screen will be waived as a parity issue. It's fucked multiple first party projects at this point too.

Nvidia is killing it
They need to tag team with Valve on a SteamOS+Shield console.

Well then you're paying more
You just have to imo. If you want 1440p or better in 32" or better, expect to pay > $600.
I've never seen a VA panel that was pleasant to use.

Happy to play PS5 anywhere on my estate.

Unfuckable? Phil Spencer bends them over and fucks them everytime they turn the Xbox on.
Yeah but he puts a paper bag over their head.

Memory Stick and Memory Stick Duo were actually doing relatively okay, compared to SD cards at the time.
It wasn't the market leader, like SD card was clearly on its way to being.........but, it was not out of the realm of possibility that you had another device that might use a Sony Memory Stick. A camera/camcorder, for example.
The Vita's propietary memory card................was absolutely proprietary and only used on one device. And SD/microSD had clearly become the defacto standard by then.
I'm not denying that vitas card was stupider and worse. But PSP's was plenty stupid, WAS NOT compatible with the more popular Sony memory stick, and was over priced as fuck. All this to say that Vita didn't fail because of its stupid memory card. 3DS was failing despite supporting SD cards. Nintendo turned it around by sacrificing the WiiU and prioritizing handheld software. Sony wasn't willing to make a similar move and shouldn't try again.

The psp memory cards didn’t cost $99 lol. Sony done gone goofed with it. Great concept. But poor execution. The market has changed a lot now, though. Imagine a handheld that plays all of your current, purchased PSN games (no cloud crap) and could play newer, less demanding titles, or ps5 ones that are scaled down. Just wishful thinking (I know it won’t come true).

Yeah, because of the dumb proprietary memory.
PSP had dumb proprietary memory.

the PSP had monster hunter to save it.
And, truth be told, Sony pulled the plug on developing interesting games on the Vita earlier than they did with the PSP.
PSP got multiple original GTA and Metal Gear games. It had a crazy library. Vita was a great device but the market rejected it out the gate and Sony agreed.

I think a Sony handheld that plays ps4 games, indie titles and scaled down new Sony first party games could do well. No BS memory storage, though. SD cards.
It would be wild for them to repeat this mistake twice. Also PS4 games in a handheld is probably not feasible yet.

Vita was DOA with its dumb proprietary memory lol.
It was still a cartridge system tho. The cards alone don't explain it. PSP had shitty cards too.

Think the price point is as good as it could've been tbh. Think it's a cool tech that unfortunately does next to nothing. It doesn't even have bluetooth, you need a compatible sony headset for it. Zero interest for me. Would've dived into an actual new PS handheld though.
It has a headphone jack.

Nah
Vita launched with Uncharted and it was basically DoA.

says the guy who owns a SD. clearly, you know there's a rising demand for high-end handhelds. i'd take a real handheld over this overpriced shitty device - the same thing my phone can already do lol.
The brilliance of the Steam Deck is it plays PC games. It doesn't need special developer support. If Playstation made a PSP3, it would fail harder than the PSVR2.

This looks interesting, don't see a price tho:

There's like no good ones right now. I had a 42" 4k LG VA panel for a while but it was killing my eyes and didn't look good.
I'm tempted by the Samsung/Alienware OLED panels, but they don't have very good IO for the price. Ideally I'd have 2 USB-C, 2 HDMI 2.1, and 1 displayport. The well-reviewed Alienware AW3423DWF has only 1 HDMI 2.0, and 2 displayport.
