  1. Hey, don't make it sound like it'd be a big deal. I'm hesitating now, I don't want to disappoint. :D There's plenty of old posters who never shown their mug besides me anyway.

Outside of video games related hardware I am very old school and don't care about owning the latest technology devices in general. My old PC still runs just fine. And I regret throwing away my CRTV and selling all my non hdmi games stuff. :(

And my fucking VHS and DVD collection. Fuck I don't care about 4K and gigantic TVs, I owned the motherfucking VHS of Star Wars that had no ''enhanced scenes'' from Uncle George. My old stuff was better than all this new trash.

You're David Poitras? haha hey bro! tu t'apelles quand je etais en train de apprendre fr??

lmao, I don't remember teaching you French. Although I do remember talking a lot to you on STEAM.

Anyway, it's good to see you, bro.

lol just like alaways Poitras lurking in the photo thread without ever posting his mug pic

I know words are cheap and you won't believe me but I have no digital pictures of myself. No smartphones you see, no camera either.

I'd totally show my face otherwise. I'm not bad looking at all, pretty attractive I'd say even. But yeah, I'll ask a friend to take a picture or something one of these days. I owe you guys that much.

  3. FFXII The Zodiac Age is a considerable improvement over the original. Love the new class system.

And being able to speed up the game at anytime is super useful in this, sometime you had to do long stretches of walking just to go to the next story bit or whatever. The cities and world in general are pretty big.

3D cutscenes still looks great and god, that voice acting is so remarkable, compare it to FFXV, it's hard to believe it came out 10 years prior.

  4. Pricing revealed for pw dlc? It's just one ep? Id rather buy crimson shroud, steamworld, or zero escape if they end up being the same price.

$5,99. Yeah, it's basically one new chapter.

Crimson Shroud is so fucking good. It's not for everyone but fan of Matsuno games (Vagrant Story, FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre) absolutely needs to play this game too. I put 12 hour into it.

Soundtrack alone is worth it. Goddamn.

  5. I hate case 3 because most scenarios and testimonies were just stupid and felt forced just to get the story going. Case 2 had a much better flow, it was also pretty easy and fairly obvious but it had a better script.

I hate Athena emotion gameplay feature thing. Not a big fan of the character either. Apollo and Phoenix should have never taken a step back from the spotlight.

  6. Case 3 in Phoenix Wright DD is just bad. I had already guessed who was the real killer early on and it took forever before it got to the prime suspect. The whole case has been too easy to point out the contradictions in testimonies and the case usually go into strange territories to reveal new key information. It's just badly written.

Ugh, can't wait to get it over with.

  7. He just reached the capital. That's barely 2 hours into the game. Who the hell judges an RPG after two hours? That's very premature considering RPGs generally take a few hours before they start opening up.

Whatever, I gave up on it... again. It's just not my cup of tea. Maybe I should have tried a different class than a fighter but I don't feel like going through the intro again.

  8. When did ramza start to piss and moan about everything? You dig these niche titles all year but have nothing but hate for higher profile games that have some flaws. I've noticed a correlation with you giving up on these games early yet having quite a bit to say about them.

If you don't like the game stop playing, but don't try to review the game based on the surface experience.

I haven't stopped playing it just yet. I didn't like the game when I played it at first, I was kind of expecting Dark Arisen to have some kind of improvement right off the gate but I didn't notice any, so here I am: 'pissing and moaning'.

  9.  Downplay harder, it's not obvious enough. I could go in-depth with all the things the combat does right but to be honest it'd be a waste of my time because you've obviously already wrote the game off and can't be told otherwise.

The game is still very much an RPG, don't know why you're comparing it to an Action game but hey if that's what you have to compare it to in order to give your argument some weight then go right ahead. Don't mind me as I laugh at that though.

Pawns are great by the way. You just have to know what to look for. Most players don't know how to set up a good Pawn build so there's a lot of terrible ones out there. Seeing as how you're referencing dumb AI companions I already know you must've had a group with the Guardian behavior on which is the worst behavior to assign your Pawn because it makes them useless.

You're the one who compared to an action game in the first place saying.

''DD straight up puts other RPGs combat to shame in comparison because it feels more in line with an Action game than an RPG."

Lol downplay. It's calling having an opinion. It's too easy to say it's above other action RPGs, one of the shittiest sub genre of RPGs. What are we comparing it to here, Tales of series and Nier? Geez, no wonder you put the game on a pedestal with such a high standard to beat.

I'll admit one thing though, I never got too far in DD. I reached the capital the first time I played it and I'm really early in Dark Arisen, which feels exactly the same as the original release so far though.

  10. Hell, the Monster Hunter does combat way better than Dragon's Dogma. The feel of the characters and moves are way more tight, they have a certain momentum to them that feels just right. Sure, the combat itself is simple due to a limited movesets but at least the bosses have patterns and required a more strategic approach to take them down with some good, well timed blows. You can also play with actual human players instead of half wit AI companions. DD is a mess in comparison.

I hate this game even more than the first time I played it now. They tried something ambitious and they failed at it.

  11.

Downloaded Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen because of PS+. Game still sucks. It really doesn't feel like a Capcom game at all. The mechanics just doesn't feel tight enough, I hate the climbing on enemies a la Shadow of the Colossus. It's just bad.

That doesn't sound like DD at all, there's a lot to complain about in the game but the mechanics definitely isn't one of them. That's the one thing the game gets right, hence all the praise for the combat system. DD straight up puts other RPGs combat to shame in comparison because it feels more in line with an Action game than an RPG. I find it very hard to play other RPGs now thanks to DD's combat spoiling me.

Most action RPGs combat system are junk so that's hardly something I'd call an achievement.

What exactly do you find so good about the combat? It can't even mimic action games combat right since you're basically just scrolling down attack by holding R1 and L1 then simply pressing a button, it has none of the finesse or depth of a real action game, it's mindless hack and slash with some cool looking moves. The climbing mechanics is really janky and lame, like the rest of the combat itself, there's no real strategic approach to any of it, nor does it has any sort of rewarding complexity to be found anywhere.
