GranBlue Fantasy dev Cygames ends contract with Platinum Games. PG FLOPS again

Tokyo-based video game publisher and developer Cygames, Inc. (HQ: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Watanabe, hereinafter referred as “Cygames”) has recently been engaged in the co-development of the upcoming console game Granblue Fantasy: Relink together with esteemed developer PlatinumGames Inc.
Going forward, Cygames will handle 100 percent of development internally.
Cygames would like to assure everyone looking forward to the title that we remain committed to delivering a game that meets the expectation of our fan-base and gamers everywhere.

  • Remij changed the title to GranBlue Fantasy now being developed by Cygames entirely. Platinum Games FLOPS again

Co-development project, contract work for Platinum is done.  Cygames finishes up the rest of the project.

By that tweet, it really sounds like Platinum fucked up again and they just figured out a nice way to say that PG is no longer a part of the project.  Probably to save face for Platinum since this is yet another time where they've either not met standards or were behind in development or overbudget.

 

They removed PG's name from the game completely.... you don't do that when your work you were contracted for was finished and it's "a job well done"....

I told people there was more to the Scalebound story but it always ended with "orange man bad :npc:" levels of argument. It sounds like Platinum takes too many liberties in their development, gets behind schedule far too much and mismanages money etc. This is no different than Kojima, Konami didn't fire him because he was a model developer, the guy took way too long internally delaying the game repeatedly and kept asking for more money.
