Bodycount keeping the ball in play :vince:

Dodging and weaving is for chumps.. BC straight up catching punches thrown at Nintendo :whew:

It's so Astral Chain lol, they used the Scalebound partner concept

:dead2:

As part of a police special task force, it’s up to you to fight against mysterious, alien-like creatures who have invaded the world.

In the Ark, a multi-cultural city in the near future, disaster strikes when gates to another dimension suddenly appear! Dangerous creatures begin to emerge, attacking the people and polluting the land, and normal police forces are unable to compete with them. To stand up against these threats, a brand new, special police unit known as Neuron is formed.

Choose between two playable characters – one male, one female – on your adventure. The character you don’t choose also appears as your younger twin, and a fellow member of Neuron.

In order to resist the creatures, humanity developed a special weapon: the Legion. The Legion acts as your partner, and helps with your investigations. However, it’s in battle where the Legion shows its real ability...

Work together with the Legion and use all sorts of combat styles to fight your enemies. You could both attack the same enemy simultaneously, target different opponents, or send your Legion on the offensive while you support it with items. Use this synergetic action system to battle and explore together!

That's a massive stretch... and Allanah clearly says Scalebound.

Again, people in the know would speak up and say that Astral Chain was replacing Scalebound.. or loosely based off of it's concepts..  Nobody is though..

A re-imagining of the concept close enough to resemble it in play but far enough away to not be sued. Makes sense.

Why wouldn't Kamiya still be the director though?  Astral Chain isn't Kamiya's game...

Maybe that's to avoid further legal issues or something :interesting:

I'd assume something like that, a way to give his input and still kind of have his game made but with him not really in the picture for legal reasons.

Still though, Alanah heard just last June that Scalebound "would still come out".. Astral Chain has obviously been in development longer than that.  The way she tells it is like as if the game is obviously Scalebound as we know it.  Nobody would have called Astral Chain a Scalebound clone..

No one else is considering the possibility of Microsoft and Platinum possibly reconciling their differences and working something out. I mean they have probably 80% of a complete game there... They still have the code, the developer is still around...

If they ended that games development on bad terms and Microsoft fucked up you know Kamiya would have called them cocksuckers or something on Twitter, but he said this...

"Our door is always open."

Oh I've considered that, and even said as much on the old forum.  I think both MS and PG were at fault.  PG probably wasn't being as resourceful as they should have been thinking that MS would just throw money at them, and Phil had the screws on him to trim the budget so instead of cancelling his own first party games and studios, he cut where he could elsewhere.

But the rumors heard were that it would release, but not as a MS exclusive.

Anyway, who knows?  We may never find out... or Scalebound could be announced at E3 and we all are shocked and amazed.  No sense in thinking too much about it right now.

So let me vet this strait..... just last week..... The damage control was that Astral Chain was "rushed" (when in face its been in development for years)

Now that the rumor has gone public that Scalebound may have been bought by Nintendo or by PG ..... The new Damage control is that Astral Chain was Scalebound to begin with? :hehe:

Nintendo did this same thing with Bayonetta 2....game was canned for other systems they came in and funded it and made it happen with PG.

If MS sold PG or Nintendo the rights to Scalebound, then this could be a possibility.

If this does come out on Switch exclusively... that would be some grade A ownage of the generation.

and to throw salt in the wound... if it turns out to be AAAA caliber like Bayonetta 2....... Lemmings might as well kill themselves :|

Actually take it one step further. Nintendo may be licensing the Bayonetta IP from Sega this entire time, even including Bayo 3.

So, what if they giving MS some money to license the Scalebound IP in the same manner. Highly unlikely, HOWEVER we did just see Nintendo allow Xbox Live to go up on their system.

Can you imagine if Nintendo asks for a favor from Microsoft, and they reject it, after all the courtesy Nintendo has provided with Minecraft and with allowing Xbox Live on the Switch?  Microsoft would almost feel a little pressure to go along and not mess up the good relationship they are building with Nintendo.

They're not getting Scalebound, so why fight to keep the rights to the IP unless its out of spite?

You guys are being very careful with your words in this thread, there's a lot of if's flying around to avoid the egg when this doesn't happen.

Long story short there's literally nothing to support this rumor. Microsoft still owns the game and everything related to it, they still have the trademark, it's still active.
