DynamiteCop 2,149
No announcement, no hype, no idea it was being developed.. Is it possible this was created and released in a short span of time as a loss offset for Anthem? Maybe they knew it was bad and had to do something to offset the loss they knew was coming. The whole situation with that game was very odd and with Anthem releasing as it did it kjnd of makes more sense.

madmaltese★ 2,803
We have no idea how long it was in development for though and one of it's biggest surprises is that it was released as a feature full game, no 'beta' or early access like nearly every rushed BR game has been. There is also the fact that it's release and success negatively impacts Anthem regardless of how good or bad Anthem was. Both games sort of appeal to similar crowds and more importantly similar levels of dedication and game time. I wouldn't start putting together theories and piecing things together to create a narrative because EA is notorious for sending out their own games to compete with each other or releasing things at what seems like horrible times. Previous example was Titanfall 2 being sent out to die between other giant FPS releases (COD and BF1) and that was when TF2 was excellent. If anything it might mean that BF's BR mode is further away than expected and they just needed to enter that market asap. If you read a lot of what devs and insiders constantly say, nearly everything EA does is based on getting things out prior to certain quarters and Financial reports.
jehurey 3,318
If EA knew Anthem was going to bomb, they would've released Apex after Anthem's release to make up for it. Apex releasing before Anthem did not help Anthem.

lynux3 2,446
Doubtful. Apex Legends had some push behind it, but extremely low key. One thing is for sure is that it is or will be bigger than Sea of Thieves ever was. Apex Legends seems to be getting bigger than Fortnite.
kaz 2,486
Nah, apex legends is a simple f2p cash grab riding that battle royal dick. The game is really basic and it won't take long until the servers shut down. The game is awful.
