He might look weird, but I really doubt he didn't do a really good job.

Still when we find out which system is more powerful, the internet assplode and meltdowns will be entertaining either way it goes.

Not for you guys, you're already setting up this 10-15% unnoticeable narrative so if Xbox has the advantage you can claim it doesn't matter.

One person leaving the project doesn't mean anything especially when it's likely in the 90th percentile of completion. A project like this doesn't have a bus factor of one, they never do.

Nobody is claiming 10-15%. Where did you get this imaginary figure from?

No one ever said that, it's just with Lockhart dead and with Phil's non commitment to having the most powerful console we don't know who will win. Before we got astroturfed into Anaconda being this unmatchable beast.

You talk about lockhart being dead.. but what about Sony initially intending to launch the PS5 in 2019, but then cancelled?

I'm assuming they must have got wind that MS' system was going to destroy it so they delayed it and wen't back to the drawing board.

There's not much support for that theory, therefore it is Xbox camp cannon fodder.

Well from what we can gather both were true. Both 2019 for PS5, and Lockhart's existence.

The PS5 delay could be a number of factors, lack of software, hardware reasons, PS4 sales etc.

I think Lockhart's cancellation has numerious factors, but the main being XBox One SAD's absolute failure. If we listen to Greenberg that posted at Resetera and worked at MS when Scarlett was planned. It seemed they were expecting Sony to launch earlier and at $400 since it worked for them. Then they could wait a year, hit back with a cheap discless Lockhart with closer to PS5 specs and nail the premium device over PS5 by going $100 more. That's WITHOUT taking a lose on Anaconda.

MS's plan was actually perfect if Sony didn't change course. Sony apparently wants to position PS5 as a Premium brand.

The issue is that neither can plan such long term things and be "reactive" making a console is too much of a damn commitment for either of them to adjust plans based soley on a competitor. Lockhart got canned because it wasn't a good idea in the end, not because of what Sony did. If it was a good idea it would be viable regardless of whatever Sony actions.

I think you mean Albert Pwnedelo. Eurogamer was the only source and it claimed PS5 would continue to use Jaguar cores again which would go against Mark Cerny's ethos for a next generational leap. The more likely scenario is that Navi was expected to come out in 2018, but since Vega got delayed for so long it didn't work out and that was probably the projected launch date.

Edit: Additionally, we've been hearing about PS5 using Zen and Navi since Computex 2018 which contradicts Eurogamer's source (probably Panelo) .

You're suggesting that Sony was going to launch in 2019, but there's no evidence to support this. If Lockhart did get canned, and there's way too many mixed messages from Microsoft's execs, then it got canned because of exactly what you said... a bad idea.

Penello did suggest everyone at MS is assuming Sony will be making PS4 games first partwise AFTER PS5 releases. But that's more of a projection of their own logic onto Sony, than reality. We'll see.

It is Microsoft so their projections are probably way off like they have been since 2009. I think we'll see Horizon Zero Dawn's sequel in PS5's launch window, their rumored multiplayer game as well, Naughty Dog to give The Last of Us 2 PS5 treatment, Japan Studio is probably working on something, Insomniac with a Spider-man sequel, etc. It's almost like Sony lined it up perfectly for a decent launch window or at least provide exclusives within the first 2 years.

We still don't know what that new studio is working on, Bend is probably already working on Days Gone 2, Santa Monica working on God of War 2, Polyphony working on Gran Turismo, and then any "2nd party" efforts that are under way.
