Well why I say this is for this exact reason, Killer Instinct has no Xbox Live account requirement and parses to a separate network, Gears requires a Live sign in. Well yeah you're obviously not going to get Play Anywhere functionality, but network separation doesn't seem likely. If that were the case they would just do what they did with KI.
