madmaltese★ 2,617
No physical disc release. As someone who still buys physical this is pretty disappointing. Also happening a little quicker than I thought considering this is a fairly major release. https://www.alanwake.com/story/alan-wake-2-faq/ Why is Alan Wake 2 a digital-only release? There are many reasons for this. For one, a large number of have shifted to digital only. You can buy a Sony PlayStation 5 without a disc drive and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is a digital only console. It is not uncommon to release modern games as digital-only. Secondly, not releasing a disc helps keep the price of the game at $59.99 / €59.99 and the PC version at $49.99 / €49.99. Finally, we did not want to ship a disc product and have it require a download for the game — we do not think this would make for a great experience either.

Remij 4,717
This was probably the best looking game at the showcase. The visuals are incredible. It could really be something special.
madmaltese★ 2,617
Just now, JonbX said: Like what? Massive difference in price. In the US physical and digital release are all identical, in places like Europe or say Australia there is big differences, Eg Diablo IV, buying on PSN or MS Store is $110AUD or $80 on Amazon (physical) Sony first party are $125Aud on PSN or $80 on Amazon (physical) That means there is still a heavy physical audience in these regions which then also means a lot more trading games with friends and a lot more trade in deals. Eg atm, our version of say a Walmart has an offer to trade 2 newish releases and get TOTK, Diablo IV or FFXVI for free. That stuff is fairly common here. Digital only release will mean game is DOA in certain regions.
