Quad Damage 1,738
According to Vincke, the issue lies with a Microsoft policy that requires games to have the same gameplay features on both Xbox Series X and Series S. While Series S games often have a lower resolution, frame rate or level of detail, this is considered acceptable by Microsoft given that it’s less powerful than the Series X. What isn’t considered acceptable, however, is the removal of modes or other features. Vincke also conceded that there ultimately may have to be some “compromises” made to release the Xbox version, but chose not to go into further detail. https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/baldurs-gate-3-wont-come-to-xbox-before-2024-larian-suggests/ @Remij

sugarhigh 519
I didn't realize the Series S is selling around parity with Series X, maybe the majority of Xbox Series consoles sold. There's no way MS can drop the support requirement.

Larian is having issues because of the lack of RAM... and they're working on solving it, while bitching about it. That's exactly what I said developers will do.. and they'll begrudgingly make it work. Great job genius, thanks
TLHBO 2,162
They should have just scrapped the xflop version. People don't buy games on that platform anyway.

It sounds like there might only be 10-15M Series X's sold. If MS cut the Series S requirement, there's even less reason to do an Xbox port.

What they should have done, or should still do... is if MS demands parity between the two, then just remove the split screen co-op from the Series X version as well and let the Xbox fanboys bitch and moan to Xbox about their policies. That would either solve the issue very quickly... or else it wasn't much of an issue to begin with.
