Of course not, these psychos think that exclusives move millions of consoles. Let's compare April, May, June and July NPD from last year versus this year following the release of God of War.

2018

  • April: 326,000
  • May: 223,000
  • June: 375,000
  • July: 187,000

Total: 1,111,000

2017

  • April: 209,000
  • May: 185,000
  • June: 382,000
  • July: 225,000

Total: 1,001,000

2018 increase of 10.98% and a total unit increase of 110,000 units over 4 months. That's an average unit increase of 27,500 each month in the US.

INSANE CHANGE!

:hest:

It's the 5th year of the PS4, it's seeing YOY increases. LOL @ this spin.

The SONY FACTOR.

PS4 was by FAR the most solid console of the gen.  AAAE after AAAE after AAAE with a robust online system.   If it wasn't for First party Nintendo games I would be a cow.   I'm gla

That's not spin, that's reality kiddo. Over the course of time extending beyond an entire quarter a game like God of War which sold 5 million in its first month only increased US sales of consoles by 110,000 over 4 months...

You guys are fucking delusional.

PS4 was supposed to decline by 3 million YOY over last year, it's beating last year. There is nothing delusional.

Decline according to what? Projections? The point which you're completely missing is that the amount of sales has not dramatically increased, it's almost within error tolerances, it's in the 10th percentile. This absolutely destroys the delusional "shortages because of exclusives" narrative that you dumb shits keep rambling on about, it's a fucking component shortage directly linked to MLCC capacitors. The same capacitors that might cause a delay in next-generation consoles being released.

An increase in global sales of maybe 90,000 units a month (18,000 Pro's according to an outdated 20% figure) and 27,500 of that in the US (5,500 Pro's) isn't going to cause a shortage. Idiots.

Wait you think when you project a 10%+ decline and get a 10%+ increase thats nothing? Almost no console in history has been seeing a YOU increase on its 5th year especially with the 80+ million userbase it has.

Projections have absolutely zero bearing on sales. That 10% is within normal sales tolerance, if you go back month for month every single year there's sales inconsistency all over the place. It's a component shortage, get over it.

It's the 5th year, with a $100 price drop in total. Other consoles went from $300 to $129 by now and would still see declines like the PS2. There is nothing to spin here. PS4 sales are abnormally good, and so is its growth.

The PS4 is not "other consoles", and it's cannibalized Microsoft's userbase from last generation, incomparable.

You're being stupid, there's a global shortage of capacitors and the PS4 Pro is most likely the lowest pecking order device on Earth to use them. It's also a lower produced device in general from Sony.

Shortages of PlayStation 4's is already expected because of these capacitors, here is the result of that exactly as tech firms have been saying.
