But so far, the Switch has struggled to find customers beyond a core fan base. The Switch is on track to reach 35 million unit shipments by March, according to the average of eight analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg, short of Nintendo’s target of 38 million.

Quote

“All great consoles need a great second year, and Nintendo hasn’t delivered one for the Switch,” said Cornelio Ash an analyst at William O’Neil & Co. in Los Angeles. “Investors thought over five years they could sell maybe 90 million units. But after this year, that’s looking pretty much impossible.”

Not looking good for 20m units shipped. :reg:

They're (the analyst Bloomberg got their averages from) expecting over 35 million in two years... which means they're projecting it to sell exactly the same amount it sold last fiscal year.. lol:lupe:

Those analysts could use better modeling.

So they miss their target by 2m+? :lupe:

That's what Bloomberg's story on the financial analysts projections are saying (excluding Pokémon and Smash)

They're projecting the same amount sold as last year:lupe:

That's a big miss if true. :lupe:January will be interesting.

It's a projection let's see what happens.

January will be the Calendar year results, but will give a better picture of what how well it did for the Holidays.

fiscal year results (which is what these financial analysts are referring to) won't be released until April  because Nintendo's fiscal year ends March 2019, 4 months from now:lupe:

All of the Era NPD thread insiders are saying 20 million is back on the table since Pokemon released.  Prolly best to wait and see how it fairs over the Holiday Season*.

This is the type of statement that Deeno cums his pants over.  But since none of us are as gullible as Deeno, I'm gonna say this is Benji stating that 20 million is very plausible, but not certain.   Having a 5% chance is five times more likely to hit a target than having a 1% change, after all.

Smash and the Smash hardware not coming out until December 7th is probably going to spill over to people still buying the hardware in January because they want to get in on playing Smash Bros.

I probably expect January and February 2019 to be busier for the Switch than January/February 2018.

I finally got around to reading this and you would never guess which analyst they decided to quote. :roff:

“2018 was a reality check and brought lofty expectations back down to Earth,” said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities Inc. “The Switch is great, but is still primarily a handheld, and a very expensive one.”
