On Tuesday, Google announced a mysterious keynote at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on March 19th. The event comes as the Project Stream beta of a AAA console title ended in January, and amid the year-long rumors of Project Yeti. We can now confirm that Google plans to announce gaming hardware next month.

According to a source familiar with the matter, next month’s event — which Google calls a “keynote” — will feature both the game streaming service powered by the Project Stream technology, and hardware to go along with it.

Man what a crazy day. Things are changing fast in the games market. Will be interesting to see how things are in the next 5 years.

They make Chromecast.

Their Project Stream test with Assassin's Creed Odyssey was done on desktop and Laptop PC's through the Chrome web browser.

It only makes sense that they would make a new Chromecast that has that gaming ability. They could sell the Dongle and the Controller in a package. Streaming from a Desktop or Laptop PC doesn't make much sense, well maybe the Laptop.

But people still want to play games on their tv. So just stick the new Chromecast in your tv and you can start playing.

Maybe I'm dumb, but can anyone explain to me what glorified stream dongles from Amazon and Google (With no first party) is going to somehow "radically" change the market.

Remember in the 80s when PCs were supposed to kill consoles? Yeah console gaming is dead, is THAT old.

MS will bury them alive, because they at least have sort of first party, with actual IPs worth something.

Like these guys are a joke.

They have money.  We'll find out just how serious they are soon enough.

Apparently Amazon has been building up some dev studios and they're working on some pretty high quality stuff.  Not little mid-small sized studios either..

New IP could be exciting...

Also if Amazon is like 2 years late to the streaming market, they're going to get butchered. I don't even know why people consider them a factor.

MS has devs, IPs, and they haven't built a first party that's competitive enough in over 15+ years. What the fuck are these guys going to do?

Google has like AAA IP coming thats probably the next 70 metacritic game.

And Amazon bought Double Helix, a borderline shovelware dev.

Right... only Sony will succeed...

In streaming? Are they even trying to? They're slightly more interested in streaming their content than Nintendo.

PS. Rumour is Google is also developing dedicated hardware and making a VR game headset. Remij take the bullet for us and buy it. :)
