I literally said that their streaming platform was going to hold back their games, graphically, almost 3 years ago.

 

The new Xbox hardware is so that they don't lose NEW next-gen third party games. That's all.  Its probably why they weren't all that concerned with trying to out-power PS5.

 

But now, PS5 might be a little bit more powerful than anticipated that the third parties need Microsoft to tweak their hardware a bit to come close to meeting PS5's baseline specs.

If MS doesn't even care enough to push their hardware sales with software,why would third parties even care at this point. They'll get some "acceptable" port like the S does now and call it a day. There is no money in this if the hardware sales can somehow be even more anemic than One.

 

We even saw Pro outdo the X a few times this year.

They have two boxes coming. I can see Anaconda making sense assuming it's more powerful than PS5, if it's not, it's going to be in a world of pain. The Lockhart model though becomes a joke, what's the point of that thing.

 

In the end it doesn't even matter, it's unacceptable not to have next gen only games. Your think PC, Scarlett and XCloud would be more than enough for next gen only games.

They care more about services than hardware now... once you subscribe to gamepass... XCloud or XBL... they consider you a customer. 

 

MS knows they can't win the WW hardware sales race.... so they're jumping all in on services... 

 

Which in the end is better for the consumer of course... less reason to purchase multiple console hardware....Purchase one (PS4 or Nintendo) and then subscribe to Xbox services.

Third parties want the Xbox console to be very close in power to the PS5 console so that the port job is EASY.

 

They don't want to put effort in making an Xbox 4 port for a hardware base that is going to sell even less than XBO.

 

If Xbox 4 comes within 95% of the power of PS5, they just allow screen-tearing and/or dynamic resolution and they're done.

 

The "Scarlett" cheaper version is supposed to be a 1080p machine, so they just drop the resolution and they're done with that.

 

If Xbox 4 is closer to 90% of the power of PS5, then they'd actually have to work to do optimizations. That's actually more expensive for them.

yeah, there's no way xflop's new models match PS5. they have 0 financial incentive to match or exceed it.

 

they're phoning it in next gen with 2 new flop models and milking their western 3rd party support, that's about it.
