And it's amazing that they were able to finish it right before the release of a brand new Half Life game when excitement is higher than ever before. As someone who's played through a HL1 a dozen times since I got it - and was one of my favourite games from my youth; including Opposing Force around 4 times, and even the middling Blue Shift a pair of times; I can say that Black Mesa is pure unadulterated, fan service and nostalgia. On top of that the work they put into the game, what they've been able to get out of the source engine after all these years is pretty amazing. But the reality is they're two different games, Black Mesa even goes so far as to shorten some of the levels in the game, but still gives that nearly identical gunplay from the original.
