It doesn't need to entice everyone to buy it... it simply needs to be an option for those who want to save money and don't see the value in 4K just yet.... XSX = PS5 Lockhart = cheaper That's it. Lockhart is not the main system if you get more than double the GPU power for $100 more. I just explained that to you in the previous power. You would never buy a RTX 2060 if a RTX 2080 was $100 more. About 90% of all potential new video card buyers would not do that. Phil Spencer does not have alot of freedom here, MS top execs would've told him that these consoles have to have a health profit margin. Especially is they're losing money trying to get Gamepass off the ground. Lockhart is not going to be $299, and its not going to be only $100 less than Series X. The rest is just simple math. It's funny how you seem to think PS5 could come in at $399, but Lockhart couldn't come in at $299 Series X and PS5 will be priced either the same, or within $50 of each other. Lockhart will be cheaper. That's what I'm saying.

Sony is in position in which, if they wanted to, they could accept a hardware loss. That is the only reason why $399 is possible. Phil Spencer has no such leeway. The Xbox division, especially hardware, has been a failure. Microsoft bigwigs will demand that the hardware be sold at a profit. Not "break even"......but actual profit. There is no way they would've given him the greenlight on developing two separate models unless they had some assurances. Lockhart will not be $299. It will be $399. A PS5 at $499 would make the PS5 look good compared to Lockhart. Series X will not be sold at a "break even" price, it will be sold for a profit. Which likely puts it over $500. Sony in the middle is probably going to be a winning scenario for Sony.
