Realistically, how much should I be spending if I want to play PC games at 1080p?

Depends on whether or not you want to enable ray tracing in newer games while still maintaining  a playable framerate. I spent over $1,200 on my new PC over the last few months for 2K gaming and it still isn't enough for ray tracing.

like actual actual 2k medium-high settings. without any adaptive resolution tricks.

yeah but then I’d be down another $200 and by this time next year it would already be dated af   at least now I can wait for the 3070/3080ti and it’ll be slightly more future proof. I’ll also have a ps5 so I’ll just get multiplats on that for now
