Biden Announcement: US Purchasing 200 million doses of the vaccine, and the goal is now to vaccinate 300 million Americans by the end of summer.

Pedal to the fuckin' Metal.

From a White House that passes on buying a second 100 million vaccine from Pfizer and was pathetically only achieving 500K vaccinations a day across all 50 states, to now having a White House that is getting enough vaccines and adminstering them to almost 90% of the entire American population.

Blowing past the estimated 65% threshold needed to achieve herd immunity.

Not the end of the year, but by the end of the summer.

That's what I'm talkin'bout.

Now that’s some executive leadership instead of just whining about how the press is so mean. :bate:

Exactly, get the job done with zero tears.   It's good to have a real leader in the office instead of a big cry baby.

I honestly feel they’re being way too optimistic here. I have no doubt they’ll reach or even crush their goal of producing and distributing the amount necessary. The problem is going to be having dumbasses actually take the vaccine. I’m convinced at least 50% are dead set on never getting the shot(s).

Well as of right now, the vaccines are not approved to be given to children, although they are doing test trials to verify its safety.

And then, we know we are going to have right-wing states purposely have their republicans in state government try and drag their feet on everything.

Hopefully, Biden bypasses them and they go in and rent out the spaces needed to do vaccine hubs with their own people. But I almost guarantee there will be a Republican State Attorney general who would then sue to say that the federal government doesn't have that right. All while people desperately wait for the vaccine.

He’s just saying mistrust of the vaccine by morons is going to be high and there will be a lot of people voluntarily not taking the shot for whatever reason.

Don't call anyone not wanting to take these vaccines a moron. There's legitimate reason to hold off or refuse. They're completely untested long term and were rushed to market.

No one has any idea what the long term effects or possible consequences are for taking them.

Neither did any other vaccine when it was released for mass distribution.

You do know that vaccines don't get tested for 20 years before they get released, right?

Vaccine experts are calling these quite possibly the best vaccines ever created.

You want to know why they were made so fast? Because the technology behind this new vaccine method actually started back in 2009, because pharmecuticals began research due to the SARS virus.

mRNA developed vaccines.

What happened was 2-3 years passed, and it was no longer profitable to continue the development of mRNA SARS vaccine, because SARS came and went. Researched paused.

Once COVID19 came, and they studied the virus, they immediately went back to finishing their mRNA vaccine development to make this so quickly.

It was made quickly, because it actually has several years of prior development.

Understanding mRNA COVID-19 Vaccines

Updated Dec. 18, 2020

Messenger RNA vaccines—also called mRNA vaccines—are some of the first COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States.

New Approach to Vaccines

mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies.

A Closer Look at How COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines Work

COVID-19 mRNA vaccines give instructions for our cells to make a harmless piece of what is called the “spike protein.” The spike protein is found on the surface of the virus that causes COVID-19.

COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are given in the upper arm muscle. Once the instructions (mRNA) are inside the immune cells, the cells use them to make the protein piece. After the protein piece is made, the cell breaks down the instructions and gets rid of them.

Next, the cell displays the protein piece on its surface. Our immune systems recognize that the protein doesn’t belong there and begin building an immune response and making antibodies, like what happens in natural infection against COVID-19.

At the end of the process, our bodies have learned how to protect against future infection. The benefit of mRNA vaccines, like all vaccines, is those vaccinated gain this protection without ever having to risk the serious consequences of getting sick with COVID-19.

This mRNA developed vaccine contains no COVID19 cells.

They essentially created a "blank" cell and replicated the little exterior things (if you ever saw an image of the COVID19 cell), that are very similar to how the COVID19 cell looks, and then your body creates antibodies to that synthetically-created "blank" cell.

So, when you get introduced to actual COVID19, and it enters your system, you have the protein antibodies that already reject the COVID19 and its exterior attachments.
