Why is Flopny still insisting with VR

Considering you're a huge fan of racing games, you should be behind VR. Racing games are a 100 times better in VR.

still VR trash

Nah, Blood & Truth was awesome. Tetris Effect the best Tetris game in existence. Beat Saber best rhythm game ever. And Astro Bot was better than any Mario since Mario 64. :reg:

Yeah VR has been an afterthought for Sony.

They mostly used it for gimmicky games and demo modes of actual games.

GTSport in VR had you playing against 1 AI opponent.

The base PS4 hardware really wasn't adequate for VR, it requires much more from the hardware than typical 30-60fps flatscreen gaming found on console. And they used the outdated PS moves controller which was a huge mistake.

Wipeout Omega Collection was fully playable in VR and is easily one of my favorite VR experience to date. Sony released a bunch of solid first party effort too, Astro Bot is easily one of the best VR game around.

PSVR2 will easily be better so I disagree with your notion that it's just an afterthought.

PS4 was barely adequate for VR. Even PS5 is going to struggle powerwise imo.

PS5 will be fine for it hardware-wise, that's not the problem. The problem comes down to the certification of software and Sony's willingness to certify things. Your entire experience hinges on what they do and do not allow not to mention most developers won't want to mess with it anyways.

The best PSVR games have mostly been internal studios stuff anyways so I don’t see that as a big issue. :]

Yeah but you get none of the other stuff, the smaller things, the really interesting things, the risque stuff. You miss out on basically everything that makes VR great.

The only thing I’m bummed about is no custom tracks on Beat Saber. :mjcry:

It will probably be some dumb gimmick crap like haptics in the headset which boils down to pure annoyance more than anything.

LOL, its funny when Sony's VR headset has more advances in design than anything Xbox makes.

No, it will definitely have more advancements, according to these new rumors below.

It could be the most advanced VR headset on Earth and I still wouldn't give a shit because it is hamstrung to a stupid console.

Couldn't see a thread for this, but search isn't great or it might have a weird title. Request a merge if so!

  • Referred to as NGVR by Sony (next gen VR) - not PSVR 2
  • Will use Fresnel OLED screens with a 2000x2040 resolution per eye
  • 4K HDR display
  • FOV is 110 degrees
  • Uses Flexible Scaling Resolution in addition to Foveated Rendering which used in conjunction conjunction eye tracking both which aims to scale resolution based upon the user's concentrated view and reduces the strains on PS5 resources
  • Haptics are planned for the headset itself to reduce motion sickness and improve immersion
  • The new controllers will be packaged with every new NGVR headset at launch.
  • The controllers will include capacitive touch sensors, which are analogue based and can track the distance between your fingers and thumb. This is in addition to haptics and adaptive triggers which have already been announced
  • Sony want to move away from "VR experiences" and concentrate on AAA games with an aim to make hybrid games that are playable in both flat screen and VR. When those titles launch you can even select which version you want to download.
  • Nothing was mentioned regarding BC for PSVR1 but there is a push to remaster some PSVR1 games
  • launch plans will be revealed in early 2022.

So it will have a larger FOV than even the Valve Index.

Significantly better resolution, with OLED screens (holy shit) and with combined technologies of Flexible Scaling resolution and Foveated Rendering, it will look absolutely fantastic, and achieve far more than other headsets with eliminating the screen-door effect.

And then on top of that, for the thumb, index finger, and middle finger...........it will have the ability to do FULL FINGER tracking to determine how far your thumb/finger is from the capacitive sensor. The fourth and fifth finger location will be derived from the position of the index and middle finger (or those may just be simple binary sensors to detect if the finger is closed or open).

Which is more than good enough.

Which means....

I was right:blessed:

No one cares about you running behind a PC.

It won't be shit, because Sony has been the best supplier of VR games these past few years.

Really pathetic from the PC industry, as a whole. Its obvious that you cannot count on them at this point on delivering with VR.

And it will be awesome if Sony is basically telling their developers for ALL of their internal studios that they should try to implement some sort of VR functionality.  That, alone, puts the PSVR2 at an advantage.
