Team Ninja: Rise of the Ronin currently has the best sales of an KoeiTecmo game

  • FIREPOWER changed the title to Team Ninja: Rise of the Ronin currently has the best sales of an KoeiTecmo game

What Koei Tecmo game actually sold large numbers? They were always a tier 3 developer who were overshadowed even though they made good games.

This being their top selling game isn't saying a lot.

Nioh was pretty successful.

Nioh series (only 2 games) surpassed 7 million in sales back in 2022....

That's really not a lot, they were both on PC as well.

That's quite a lot for any franchise unless huge known IPs.

Regardless Rise of Ronin is on PS5 alone has sold more/faster than either Nioh 1 and 2, and it hasn't been out for that long. It's great no matter how you try to spin it. Not everything has to be mega blockbuster 10m+ lifetime sales...

We really going to pretend that 7m sales for a niche hardcore souls like isn't a lot?

What other non From soulslike has even sold that many?

It sold 3.2 million on PC, that means both games only sold 3.8 million on PlayStation 4. That's 3.8 million spread across two games lifetime.

Like I said this figure of Rise of the Ronin being their fastest selling game doesn't mean shit. It's still low margin no matter which way you dice it.

Why are you trying to split shit up? They are literally telling you that this is selling better than the 2 system Nioh which was a very successful game for them. You take this all so seriously and hate a company so much you are constantly making yourself look like a fool for no reason. It's ok, Rise of the Ronin can be successful and you can say it.

So does this mean they're comparing it launch aligned with Nioh and Nioh 2, or does this mean it's already outsold each of those titles?

I mean, it's good that it's successful for them.. but Nioh 1 and 2 were both PS exclusive for almost a year before the PC versions also released.  So if it's launch aligned "selling faster" then it's not that surprising.

Either way how is this not surprising? Like seriously the downplaying of this is weird. This was released in between 2 much bigger hyped games (Rebirth and Stellar Blade) which were also BOTH console exclusive and all signs pointed to it being overshadowed. This selling better than Nioh in any regards was not expected at all.

Split things up, why wouldn't they be? The games didn't uniformly launch.

This is a launch aligned figure of ONE game, not some total metric. The point is Nioh sold like ass if you actually look at the figure on Sony's platform to which it was exclusive.

Two games, 110+ million userbase and less than 4 million sales LIFETIME.

Their games sell like dog shit, this game being the best seller launch alligned is still selling like dog shit. It's not a high bar to cross.
