Brad Sams: Microsoft to Talk Next Gen Consoles at E3 2019, Halo Infinitity for launch

Recommended Posts

Maybe next-gen talk is just so people on the XBox side don't have a complete meltdown from Switch?

Microsoft will not be shipping its next-gen consoles until the fall of 2020 but the company is preparing to talk more about the hardware this year at E3, 2019, according to people familiar with the company’s plans. Don’t expect to hear pricing just yet, but the company wants it to be known that they are moving full steam ahead with the upcoming Lockhart and Anaconda devices and will begin to peel back the onion on these two devices.
Last year, the company teased Halo Infinite and that title will be a launch game for the upcoming hardware. With a brand new game engine, the team behind the game is trying to make the story adapt to decisions the user makes and the game may have more RPG (role-playing game) elements than prior versions of the series.

Fuckin' hell, man, just MAKE GODDAMNED HALO!  Why is this so hard for MS?

Eh.. at the end of the day... they didn't buy the X1X for just Halo, or just any one game.  What you're doing is as dumb as when Jon tells me I spent $2500 on my PC for a single game or feature...  Yo

It seems to be in no different of a position than The Last of Us II and Death Stranding for the PlayStation 4, do you see anyone freaking out about that? Are you having a panic attack over those games

They'll have to be careful how they present everything, that's for sure.  Not simply to placate the main Xbox gamers, but to minimize confusion on both sides.

They better have things clearly laid out and presented as well as limitations and expectations clearly expressed.

It's a lot of shit going on all at once possibly... and is compounded if they're actually talking about their next gen system specs and everything as well.  I'm not sure any company could really navigate all of this without causing some confusion...

It's going to be a strange and yet interesting E3 for sure.

X buyers are probably very happy about new hardware announcements, MS really gave them a lot of value there with killer exclusives and visuals. :trump:

404 > 390

X is averaging 27 enhanced games a month, Pro is averaging 14

:tom:

It could be their God of War moment or a disaster, I'm hedging on it turning out great.

RPG elements.  It's GaaS.  It won't be classic like the trailer hinted at.  Do yourself a favor and check your expectations.

It may end up good, but it won't be Halo.

Where you are getting that it's GaaS? That's purely fabricated and based from nothing.

What is even going on here?

There are people who laid down $500 back in November 2017.

And they're going to watch Phil Spencer announce another piece of Xbox hardware, and the Halo Infinite that they've been waiting is going to be a launch game for that?

So, these people paid $500 just so that they can be told that they are getting the SECOND-BEST version of the next Halo game, which is obviously getting delayed back to 2020?

If gamers don't absolutely scorch Microsoft for this, the gaming press will. This has disaster written all over it.

He doesn't seem to process that this is still nearly two years away.

Imagine if Nintendo released the Switch in March 2017 and then Nintendo announced a Switch 2 in October 2018, and the biggest upcoming Switch games like Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 is actually going to be a launch game for that.

But don't worry, its okay, because it won't come out until March 2020. So people with launch Switches shouldn't have a problem with that.

Who cares, Xbox One X isn't a different system, it's just a more powerful Xbox One. It would be no different than had it not released at all, the game would still be coming in 2020. In the mean time though we've got access to a fantastic machine.
