Yeah, a GPU that does real time ray-tracing for sub $300. :hest:

Any gpu does ray tracing...  This is why I'm going to laugh when the drivers are actually released and you see real world performance.

That demo is such a limited form of ray tracing.. it's embarrassing.  Only mirror reflections which can be more easily calculated because they know direction in which the ray will travel.  No diffused ray traced reflections at all in that demo.. which ups the complexity in orders of magnitudes because rays will bounce in less predictable ways.

But by all means keep adding fuel to the fire that's going to burn you :trump:

Matt is speculating 399 for PS5. He says price isn't locked but that's he feels it will be.

Consoles always have future GPU tech inside, maybe there are other cool things coming, not only dedicated RT hardware assuming it happens. The issue RT hardware competes for die space with compute units, so shit flatout eats into overall APU perform. Maybe not be worth it.

If it's $399 they're shooting themselves in the foot compute wise unless they take a loss. Especially with Ray Tracing being a reality for these systems it would be an egregious oversight to not have the hardware to push it. Imagine if Sony comes out with say a 10 Teraflop console at $399 and then Microsoft flies onto the scene with a 12-14 Teraflop console at $499 where all that extra headroom can be dedicated to something like Ray Tracing.

It won't be a good look.
