madmaltese★ 2,699
Matt Booty, head of Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios, has said that his team is aiming to release a first-party Xbox game about every three months. https://au.ign.com/articles/2019/06/11/microsoft-aiming-for-a-first-party-xbox-game-about-every-three-months-e3-2019 It sounds great in theory but this was one of the fears I had previously mentioned when they swooped so many devs and started focusing so much on Gamepass. To push a subscription model you need a constant stream of content. Big AAA titles take 3-5 years to develop easy. I don't see MS dedicating many of their studios to major major games. I feel they will focus on numerous smaller titles to constantly encourage ppl to keep their sub, as opposed to signing up on big releases for a month or 2 then cancelling. Guest
This is why i don't like the gamepass model. It encourages quantity over quality. Not to mention GaaS games. Edited June 11, 2019 by Guest

MS barely had quality so hopefully quantity works. They have a bunch of studios. Im good with this. We don't need big AAA cinematic games all the time.

Definitely not Gears 5 since they aren't showing a spec of campaign footage.
JonDnD 2,784
Gears 5 most certainly will be one of them . I like that ms has gamey games . If both consoles just had tlou of style games ecwryije would get burnt out . Look at days gone . People are sick of playing the same shit
madmaltese★ 2,699
There is like one or two major cinematic games a year. Last year was God of War and that's pretty much it from all first parties. Days Gone is not cinematic in the least. It's pure open world like every other open world and it sold gang busters so obviously ppl aren't sick of open worlds yet. There will not be a major AAA cinematic game this year till Death Stranding. They are like the least prevalent genre. Open worlds arguably the most and service games (like Sea of Thieves) right behind. MS isn't making anything unique, they are following the trends. Bleeding Edge is just trying to be Overwatch. SoT was just trying to be a major GaaS like Destiny/Division etc. 'Gamey games' are the standard. Everything is MP and always online now. Big AAA cinematic titles are what is rare. No one but a few Sony first party
DynamiteCop 2,101
This doesn't impede their AAA studios from their 3-5 year releases, it simply guarantees a steady stream of in between games.

Playstation Tablet 1,766
It's all Straight to Gamepass stuff aside from a rare AAA. Shit like Sea of Thieves and Bleeding Edge are basically F2P games so paying 10 bucks a month for them isn't even a good deal.
